Operation ‘Fix Eddie’s Screw-Up’
Summary: A year ago, Eddie Munson made a mistake he’s regretted ever since. When you walk into the video store where he works with Robin and Steve, old wounds resurface, and Eddie’s left grappling with the past. It doesn’t take long for Steve, Robin, and the kids to notice—and they decide to take matters into their own hands to fix things.
Pairing: Eddie Munson x Reader
Warnings: Angst, fluff
Author’s note: Good morning guys, I felt like Tumblr was lacking on some good old angst and fluff stories of him without any smut. This one is kinda long.
Tumblr media
Eddie Munson’s job at Family Video wasn’t glamorous, but it was steady. After everything with the Upside Down, normalcy was a welcome relief. The place was rarely busy, which left plenty of time for him, Steve, and Robin to mess around behind the counter and argue over who was more tolerable to customers.
“Come on, Stevie,” Eddie said one slow Thursday afternoon, lazily spinning a VHS tape between his fingers. “Don’t act like you don’t love when middle-aged moms ask you to recommend a rom-com.”
“Better than you scaring them off with your metalhead charm,” Steve shot back.
Robin snorted from the counter. “Please, you’re both terrible. I’m the only one holding this place together.”
The three of them fell into easy banter, their laughter echoing through the empty store. Eddie had just started recounting a ridiculous D&D campaign he’d run when the bell above the door jingled.
“Welcome to Family Video!” Robin chirped without looking up from her inventory list.
Eddie, however, froze. His voice caught in his throat, his grip tightening on the tape in his hands. He didn’t need to turn around to know it was you. He’d recognize your presence anywhere.
A year. It had been a whole year since the last time he’d seen you—since the night he’d screwed everything up.
You didn’t even glance his way as you walked toward the shelves, your focus entirely on the rows of tapes. Your hair, your stance, the way you moved—it all hit him like a freight train, dragging memories to the surface that he’d tried so hard to bury.
“Uh, Eddie?” Steve nudged him, eyebrows raised. “You good, man?”
“Yeah,” Eddie mumbled, though his voice was tight. He forced himself to turn away, but he couldn’t stop glancing at you out of the corner of his eye.
When you finally approached the counter with your rental, you placed it down without a word.
Robin, picking up on the tension, stepped forward to help. “Oh, this one’s good! Classic rom-com—”
“Just the tape, please,” you said curtly, cutting her off. Your voice wasn’t sharp, but it wasn’t warm, either.
Eddie didn’t dare speak. He kept his hands busy with the register, avoiding eye contact. When you paid and took your receipt, you turned on your heel and left without so much as a glance back.
The bell jingled again as the door closed behind you.
Eddie’s eyes, however, stayed fixed on the door long after you were gone.
It didn’t take long for Steve and Robin to notice.
“Okay, spill,” Robin said, crossing her arms and leaning against the counter. “What was that?”
“Yeah, dude,” Steve added. “You looked like you’d seen a ghost.”
Eddie sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. He could feel their eyes boring into him, and he knew there was no getting out of this.
“That was her,” he said finally, his voice low.
“Her who?” Robin asked.
“The girl,” Eddie clarified. “The one I told you about. The one I…” He trailed off, the words catching in his throat.
“The one you majorly screwed over last year?” Robin guessed, her eyebrows shooting up.
Eddie winced. “Yeah, that one.”
Steve and Robin exchanged a look, and Eddie groaned.
“Don’t start, okay? I already know I’m an idiot. I’ve known for a year.”
Robin leaned forward, her expression curious. “Okay, but what exactly happened? You’ve never given us the full story.”
Eddie hesitated. It wasn’t something he liked to talk about, but he knew they weren’t going to let it go.
“She and I were… close,” he admitted. “Really close. She came to Hellfire sometimes, we’d hang out after school—she even helped me set up a few campaigns. But then, right before graduation, I panicked.”
“Panicked about what?” Steve asked, genuinely curious.
“About her,” Eddie said, his voice bitter. “She was everything I wasn’t. Smart, grounded, going places. And me? I was just the town freak. I thought if I pushed her away, it’d be easier for both of us. So I said some… things.”
Robin frowned. “Like what?”
“Like how I didn’t care about her the way she thought I did,” Eddie said quietly. “That she deserved better than some loser like me. It wasn’t true, but… I said it anyway.”
“Dude,” Steve muttered, shaking his head.
Eddie shrugged helplessly. “I thought I was doing the right thing, okay? But I messed everything up. She hasn’t spoken to me since, and I don’t blame her.”
Robin and Steve shared a look that could only be described as scheming.
“You know,” Robin said slowly, “this feels like the kind of thing we could fix.”
“Definitely,” Steve agreed. “I mean, it’s basically a rom-com setup. Guy screws up, realizes he’s an idiot, wins girl back with grand gesture.”
Eddie groaned. “No, no, no. Absolutely not. I don’t need you two meddling in my love life.”
“Too late,” Robin said with a grin. “Operation ‘Fix Eddie’s Screw-Up’ is officially a go.”
It didn’t take long for the rest of the gang to get involved.
When Dustin heard the story, he was immediately on board. “Eddie, you idiot,” he said, smacking him on the shoulder. “You’ve been pining over her for a year and didn’t tell me? I could’ve fixed this ages ago!”
“I don’t need fixing,” Eddie muttered.
“Clearly, you do,” Max said, rolling her eyes. “You’re hopeless.”
Even Lucas, Mike, and Will had ideas, though most of them were wildly impractical. (“Write her a song,” Mike suggested. “Girls love that stuff.” “She’ll just think it’s cheesy,” Lucas argued.)
Through it all, Eddie tried to protest, but deep down, a part of him hoped they could pull it off.
The plan came together piece by piece, each member of the group contributing ideas that were somehow both chaotic and oddly brilliant.
“What about a mixtape?” Dustin suggested as he sprawled across Steve’s couch.
“A mixtape screams ‘80s romance,” Robin said, nodding. “But it needs to be personal. Like, songs that mean something to you and her.”
Eddie groaned, running a hand through his hair. “You guys don’t get it. She doesn’t even want to look at me, let alone listen to some cheesy mixtape.”
“Then don’t make it just about the tape,” Max said from her spot on the floor. “Make it part of something bigger.”
“And where’s this ‘bigger’ happening?” Steve asked, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.
The group fell silent, all eyes turning to Eddie. He frowned, tapping his fingers against his knee. Then it hit him—an idea so crazy it might actually work.
“The Hawkins Carnival,” he said.
“What about it?” Dustin asked.
“They’re setting it up this weekend, right? She used to love going to that thing. We’d sneak off after school and blow all our money on funnel cakes and rides.” His voice softened as the memories flooded back. “Maybe… maybe I could meet her there.”
“Okay, but what’s the actual plan?” Robin pressed. “You can’t just show up and expect her to swoon over you.”
“Yeah,” Steve added. “You need a moment. Something big. Something unforgettable.”
Eddie thought for a moment, then smirked. “I’ve got just the thing.”
The days leading up to the carnival were a whirlwind of preparation. Dustin helped Eddie pick out songs for the mixtape, while Robin and Steve coached him on what to say.
“Apologize first,” Steve advised. “Don’t try to justify what you did—just own up to it.”
“And be sincere,” Robin added. “No sarcasm, no jokes. This isn’t the time for your usual deflection.”
Eddie rolled his eyes but took their advice to heart.
Meanwhile, the kids worked on the logistics of his grand gesture. Lucas and Max snuck into the carnival grounds to scope out the perfect location, while Will and Mike brainstormed backup plans in case things went south.
By the time Saturday rolled around, Eddie was a bundle of nerves. The mixtape was finished, his speech was rehearsed, and the stage was set. All that was left was for you to show up.
The Hawkins Carnival was alive with lights and laughter, the scent of fried food wafting through the air. Eddie stood near the Ferris wheel, his heart pounding as he scanned the crowd.
“You’ve got this,” Dustin said, clapping him on the shoulder. “Just stick to the plan.”
Eddie nodded, though his palms were sweating.
Then he saw you.
You were standing by the carousel, looking effortlessly beautiful in the glow of the carnival lights. The sight of you took his breath away, and for a moment, he almost lost his nerve. But then he remembered why he was here—why he’d spent the past year kicking himself for letting you go.
He squared his shoulders and approached you, his heart racing.
“Hey,” he said softly, his voice barely audible over the noise of the carnival.
You turned, your eyes widening in surprise. “Eddie?”
“Can we talk?” he asked, his voice pleading.
You hesitated, your expression guarded. But after a moment, you nodded. “Fine.”
Eddie led you to a quieter spot near the edge of the carnival, away from the crowds. He fumbled in his pocket and pulled out the mixtape, holding it out to you.
“What’s this?” you asked, eyeing it warily.
“It’s… an apology,” he said. “And a thank-you. And a promise to do better if you’ll let me.”
You stared at him, your fingers brushing the edge of the tape but not taking it. “Why now, Eddie? Why after all this time?”
“Because I’ve been an idiot,” he admitted. “I thought I was doing you a favor by pushing you away. I told myself you deserved better, but the truth is, I was scared. Scared of how much I cared about you. Scared of screwing it up.”
He took a deep breath, his hands trembling. “But I did screw it up. And I hate myself for that. I just… I needed you to know that I’m sorry. And that I never stopped…”
“Never stopped what?” you prompted, your voice soft.
“Never stopped loving you,” he said, the words tumbling out before he could stop them.
For a moment, there was only silence. Then you spoke, your voice barely above a whisper.
“You really hurt me, Eddie.”
“I know,” he said, his voice breaking. “And I’ll spend the rest of my life making it up to you if you’ll let me.”
You stared at him for what felt like an eternity, and Eddie braced himself for the worst. But then, slowly, you reached for the tape, your fingers curling around it.
“I’ll listen to it,” you said softly.
Eddie’s heart soared. “That’s all I’m asking.”
But the night wasn’t over yet.
As you turned to leave, the Ferris wheel lit up behind you, the carnival music swelling in the background. Eddie hesitated, then called out.
“Wait!”
You turned back, your brow furrowed.
“Will you ride the Ferris wheel with me?” he asked, his voice trembling. “One last time?”
Your lips curved into a small smile, and for the first time in a year, Eddie felt hope.
“Okay,” you said.
As the two of you climbed into the Ferris wheel carriage, the world below seemed to fade away. The lights, the noise, the crowds—it all disappeared, leaving just the two of you suspended in the night sky.
And as the Ferris wheel reached its peak, Eddie turned to you, his eyes searching yours.
“I meant what I said,” he whispered. “I love you. I never stopped.”
This time, you didn’t hesitate. You leaned in, closing the distance between you, and kissed him.
The world tilted, the stars spinning above, but Eddie didn’t care. For the first time in a year, everything felt right.
The Ferris wheel creaked softly as it came to a stop, grounding you and Eddie back in the bustle of the carnival. But neither of you moved to get out of the carriage right away. Instead, you stayed seated, your hands still intertwined, your heads leaning close together.
“You know,” you said, breaking the silence, “if you mess this up again, I’m never speaking to you.”
Eddie let out a breathless laugh, his thumb brushing against the back of your hand. “Fair enough. But I won’t. You’ve got my word.”
You tilted your head, studying him for a moment. His dark eyes, once filled with nervous energy, now held something softer. Something earnest. You gave his hand a small squeeze.
“I’ll hold you to that, Munson.”
The Ferris wheel operator coughed awkwardly from below, snapping you both out of the moment. “Uh, you getting out or planning to rent the thing for the night?”
Eddie grinned and hopped out, offering you his hand to help you down. The two of you wandered back into the glowing chaos of the carnival, your shoulders brushing with every step.
The next morning, the story of your reunion had spread faster than Eddie anticipated.
When he walked into Family Video for his shift, Steve was already smirking behind the counter, Robin perched on top of it with a knowing grin. Dustin, Mike, and Lucas had apparently stopped by, too, judging by the excited chatter echoing through the store.
“Look who’s finally not single!” Robin announced loudly as Eddie stepped inside.
Steve threw an arm around Eddie’s shoulders, ruffling his hair. “How does it feel, Romeo?”
“Like I should’ve kept my mouth shut about all this,” Eddie muttered, though he couldn’t keep the grin off his face.
“C’mon, man, don’t be shy,” Dustin said, grinning ear to ear. “We did help, after all. You should be thanking us.”
“Oh, thank you, wise sages of Hawkins,” Eddie said, bowing dramatically. “I couldn’t have done it without your meddling.”
Robin snorted. “Damn right.”
Later that week, you stopped by Family Video, much to the delight of the gang.
“Look who it is!” Robin sang as you walked in, nudging Eddie.
You shot her a mock glare before turning your attention to Eddie, who had abandoned all pretense of professionalism to lean against the counter with a wide grin.
“Hi,” you said, a little shyly.
“Hi,” he replied, his tone soft and warm.
Robin and Steve exchanged a glance, then bolted for the back room, dragging Dustin and the others with them.
“Hey, we weren’t done!” Dustin protested, but Robin slammed the door shut behind them, leaving you and Eddie alone.
Eddie leaned closer. “They mean well, but they’re the absolute worst, I swear.”
You laughed, shaking your head. “They’re not so bad. I think I owe them, actually.”
“For what?”
“For convincing me to give you another chance.”
Eddie’s smile faltered slightly. “Do I… deserve another chance?”
You reached across the counter, taking his hand. “You’re earning it. And so far, you’re doing a pretty good job.”
The weight that had been pressing on Eddie’s chest for a year seemed to lift entirely. He grinned, his fingers curling around yours.
“Well, then,” he said, his voice playful but sincere. “I guess I’d better keep it up, huh?”
You smirked. “You’d better.”
As you left the store, mixtape in hand, Eddie watched you go with a goofy grin on his face. Steve emerged from the back room just in time to catch him staring.
“Still gazing after her like a lovesick puppy?” Steve teased.
“Absolutely,” Eddie said without shame.
Robin grinned as she joined them. “Well, looks like Operation ‘Fix Eddie’s Screw-Up’ was a success.”
“Don’t ever call it that again,” Eddie groaned, though his smile didn’t waver.
And as the group broke into laughter, Eddie realized something: he wasn’t just grateful to have you back in his life. He was grateful for all of it—the chaos, the meddling, the friends who refused to let him give up on love.
Because this? This was a second chance he wasn’t going to waste.
The End.

“what are you looking at?” jay’s teasing voice comes from beside you, effectively snapping you out of your daze.
you turn to him hesitantly, feeling like you just got caught doing something sinful. “mm?”
jay holds your gaze, clearly unimpressed by your pretence while taking a bite from his banana. he chews like he has all the time in the world and for a moment you wonder if he had spoken at all. then, he swallows and his lips curve into a smile. the kind you wear when you’ve already stolen someone’s wallet and are now humouring them.
“you were staring,” he eventually says. “at jake.”
“well, damn.” you laugh awkwardly. “don’t make it sound like a crime. and i wasn’t—“
“yea, no.” he shakes his head. “don’t even try. you were locked in for, like, the past 10 minutes. it was serious for you.”
“i have my reasons,” you sputter defensively, hoping those reasons will materialise inside your head right now. then the rest of his words catch up to you and you pull a face. “you’ve been looking at me for 10 minutes?”
“you would’ve noticed if you weren’t too busy doing the same thing to someone else.” jay snorts quietly. “besides, there are no reasons. or there’s only one, really. i don’t know if you know what it is, but i do. i know that look.”
you arch your brows. “you sound confident.”
he nods, tossing the peel of his banana into the nearest bin. “i’m not a gambling man but i would bet on it.”
“enlighten me then.”
jay squints his eyes, giving you a look that almost rudely says right. as if you’re ready to hear the truth. and you probably aren’t, but you’re fatally curious and the thought of someone knowing you better than yourself feels both touching and offensive.
“enlighten you about what?” another curious voice cuts in and the two of you swivel around, coming face to face with none other than jake. he tilts his head to the side, big black eyes innocently meeting yours as a strand of curled hair falls down his forehead and oh. oh, you wish he wouldn’t look at you like that.
jay clears his throat, glancing at you as if to check if you’re drooling. “erm, just you know…” he helplessly flails his hands around, gesturing at everything and nothing at all. “stuff.”
you stare up at him.
“smooth,” you mumble under your breath and he elbows your side. jake’s gaze darts between you two.
“you want him to enlighten you about… stuff.” he repeats flatly and you swear you hear jay wince beside you. yes, this is extremely painful and it’s your fault, you hiss at him telepathically, hoping he could hear it. sadly, absolutely nothing comes to mind to eradicate the situation, so you just smile back nervously.
jake eventually bites his lip and forces an awkward laugh, taking a step back while his eyes shine with something you can’t place. “sorry, didn’t mean to pry. if you guys have secrets, that’s none of my business, erm, i’ll just go see what the others are doing.” with an even more awkward wave, he leaves the room.
you round on jay. “what was that?”
he retreats with his palms up, laughing sheepishly. “that was close, wasn’t it?”
“you think?” you say bitterly, flopping down on the cluttered couch, pulling out someone’s charger from beneath you. you haven’t even realised how fast your heart was pumping, but you suppose that seems like an adequate reaction seeing how the boy you’ve been stupidly in love with for months might’ve overheard how you were staring at him yearningly like an idiot. or a creep. god, maybe it’s an heart attack.
“you know,” says jay as he sits down on the opposite couch, speaking at a normal volume now that everyone has left the waiting room. “one day, you will have to tell him. does it really make that much of a difference if you do it today or next week?”
you shoot him an incredulous look. “park jongseong, you’re funny if you believe i was planning on telling him a damn thing. hilarious, actually, for thinking i’d do it next week as if i’d saved it in my calendar.”
“jake probably has.” jay shrugs, smiling fondly. “he probably has an alarm set too. he’s such a J.”
“you’re a J,” says heeseung the moment he strolls into the room, door falling shut behind him. “hey, y/n.”
you flash him a smile over your shoulder. “hi, hee.”
he takes a seat on your left and offers you an open bag of peanuts. you take some and he extends the courtesy to jay who stares at him blankly.
“trying to kill me again?”
“what? you’re not allergic to peanuts.” heeseung frowns, glancing at you. “right?”
“leave me out of it,” you say. “i’m feeling murderous today so if he is, those nuts should not be anywhere near me.”
he studies your face as though to see if you’re serious. “okay then,” heeseung mutters to himself before turning back to his friend. “well, are you?”
jay’s brows furrow. “no, i was just kidding. but you should know if i’m allergic or not, man. peanut allergies are not a joke. we’ve known each other for years, what the hell?”
heeseung stares at him in bewilderment. “you’re not even allergic.”
“i could’ve been, you a—“
“what’s going on?” jungwon cuts him off as he walks in. the others shuffle in behind him, looking at jay and heeseung curiously. “why are you fighting?”
neither of them reply while everyone else makes themselves comfortable on the couch. it’s a whirlwind of movements and things being shoved aside and someone saying “you’re sitting on my hand, riki.” and before you know it, heeseung and jake are sat on either side of you.
sunghoon looks around expectantly. “so? what are we fighting about? might as well join.”
heeseung huffs and pours some more peanuts into your palm, nearly emptying the whole thing. “nothing, he’s just being weird,” he grunts and you grin at jay while he pouts and looks away. apparently, that seems to be a good enough response for everyone and they fall into mindless chatter and doomscrolling on their phones.
you’re in the middle of talking to sunoo about a drama you started last night when you suddenly feel a hand gently wrapping around your left wrist. jake grins at your startled reaction and pulls it towards him to pick some peanuts from your palm. “sorry,” he says with way too much amusement for it to be remotely genuine.
“s’alright,” you reply, not able to stop yourself from smiling shyly when you realise how close you’ve been sitting. you’re close enough to count his lashes if you wanted to, especially when he reaches up to remove a piece of lint from your hair and lets you blow it away.
“oh, wait, i wanted to show you something.” he fishes out his phone and lets his other arm fall on his thigh. since his leg is pressed up against yours, his hand is lying on your thigh and you really don’t want to think too much about it because you might squeal and pass away from embarrassment.
before you can ponder the possibility of that happening, he moves his arm behind your back and pulls you into his side. you are so proud of yourself for masking your surprise and biting back a yelp. the whiff of his perfume and something that smells so undeniably like him drifts to your nose as jake leans closer to show you his screen. you’re looking at the pepe the king prawn trend on tiktok where people share their traumatic experiences, and this one in particular has you in stitches in less than four seconds.
“i knew you’d like this one.” he beams at you with a hint of pride in this voice.
“you were blowing up my phone with these last week.” you move back a little after the last slide, the last remnants of a good laugh hanging in the air between you.
“because i know you’d find them funny,” he says with a shrug like it’s the most obvious thing in the world.
you hum at the memory. “i had to turn off my phone because i was in the studio and wouldn’t have gotten any work done if your name had kept popping up.”
“oh?” jake looks pleased to hear that. he leans in closer, lowering his voice to a teasing murmur. “why? can’t resist?”
you playfully narrow your eyes at him. “shut up, you know how curious i get.” you look down at your hands. “besides, you stopped sending them, so i figured… i don’t know what i figured.”
a beat of silence follows in which you regret what you said. you didn’t mean to sound so needy.
“the only reason why i stopped was because i knew i’d see you today and i wanted to see your reaction.” jake’s voice is sincere and reassuring. “i saved so many for you, d’you want to see?”
ignoring how your heart flutters uncontrollably, you bite your lip to keep from smiling too much like an idiot. his eyes drift down, lingering there before he blinks rapidly, giving you a lopsided smile and opening the app again to a collection on tiktok that was named after you. no need to overthink that one, right? right.
madonna’s 'like a prayer' gets dramatically louder with each slide and you’re fully immersed, laughing at jake’s commentary and anticipating how it could possibly end when he suddenly stops swiping although there was only one sentence to read, and you’d be mildly offended if he believed you to be that slow of a reader. quizzically, you look at him only to find his eyes already on you. the effect is diabolical.
he’s really just smiling at you—something he’s done a million times even though you wish he hadn’t because you are so sure you could get drunk on it—but this one is painfully gentle and inviting. as if you had just told him you save baby animals in your free time and this was his secret show of tender gratitude. it’s all very confusing.
“you’re so pretty,” says jake, quietly as though it wasn’t even meant for your ears to hear.
his eyes hold so much softness and plain adoration—yes, adoration. even you can see that clear as day—that you immediately feel your mouth go dry and your chest squeeze around your heart. because what is happening right now? jay was right. you are, in fact, not ready to face the truth.
it is ni-ki who has you both crashing back to earth with the call of jake’s name. you tear your eyes away and blink at your lap.
“jay asked if you have anything planned next week.”
still out of it, he glances at you for some reason before settling his puzzled gaze on jay. “we have schedules every day next week, bro. we looked at it earlier in the car. you were there.”
“oh, i know.” jay grins and slides his eyes to you, mischief glinting in them. “so whatever it is you want to do, you should probably do it now. if you’re going to do it anyway.”
it’s like the entire room falls silent, prompting you to eye them suspiciously. “okay,” says jake slowly, clearly not getting the hint. you’re not sure you get it either.
“god,” you hear sunoo mutter under his breath, making ni-ki snort.
“i know,” jungwon sighs. “they’re idiots.”

(jiuyuan) Omegaverse AU where SY is born into PIDW like airplane. He's still tasked with making the story better and filling in plot holes which means... He has to go to CQM.
SQH clocks him as a transmigrator during disciple selection and is way too excited about it. SQQ immediately pulls rank and takes SY on as his own.
SY can't risk getting kicked out and losing all of his points, so he does the bare minimum of playing nice guy his new shizun.
SJ meanwhile likes the cut of SY's jib. He's vicious, angry, full of resentment but most importantly, playing just enough by the rules. This is a child with the potential to deal with the snakes they call martial siblings. There's no resemblance to SQH, but SQQ still suspects SY is a bastard or other relative, especially given how much the rat*hovers*, invading QJP with all manner of excuses.
SY has a grudge against MF and the system doesn't complain about SY acting on it. Soon the other disciples lose most of their respect for MF - especially since while SY clearly hates MF he's kind and gentle with everyone else
The final nail on MF's coffin is when SY reports to SQQ that MF gave him a faulty cultivation manual and proceeds to present the manual SQQ personally delivered into SY's hands.
The audacity of this child. SJ didn't realize he could still feel delight!
The next selection NYY is brought in and SY starts growling and posturing whenever SQQ so much as looks at her. He knows he's in an omegaverse variant world, but it hasn't really hit him that he will soon be afflicted by a second gender himself.
SY is made head disciple but told in no uncertain terms that if he presents qianyuan he's getting kicked off the mountain
SY isn't surprised but he does complain massively to the system.
SQQ then starts piling sy with work and quickly realizes sy is a maths genius and starts using SY's work to lord over various other peaks.
SQH gets a nice gift for pointing the boy out
Unfortunately this means SY spends a lot of time around sqq and starts... Noticing things. Call him crazy but two years on he's actually convinced sqq is an omega, not the beta he pretends to be. The next time he takes paperwork to An Ding and confirmed Airplane who says only "wait you didn't know? I thought it was obvious from his whole... Everything."
Then LBH gets chosen in selection and even though SY's not that much older than him, he still goes full weird and codependent parent.
SQQ is furious that his heir has suddenly gone off the deep end and forgotten that the world is cold and you must be colder still to survive.
He beats SY at the barest pretense but this brings the idiot unmistakable *relief*. He still tries it many more times before finally turning the whip on the problem: LBH
SY presents instantly, not going through a month-long physical, mental and hormonal transition. No, there's no time, he has to protect LBH NOW and he tries to rip out SQQ's throat with his teeth. He fails miserably and after being beaten unconscious SQQ has MF dump SY on BZP.
(YQY is very sorely tempted to take SY for himself bc Xiao-Jiu clearly loves the boy and might regret it later, but he reasons taking SY in would just make sqq hate them both more.)
SY is not suited for BZP. But he can use the raids on qjp to check on LBH and make sure he's okay. (Airplane is devastated he still can't conscript cucumber bro)
LQG is very confused to find BZP running smoothly with formal classes when he returns but he doesn't care enough to investigate before preparing to enter the lingxi caves. SY approaches and tells LQG that now isn't a good time to enter the caves for secluded meditation bc sqq will be there and disturb the qi flow
LQG is pissed bc he scheduled this time first, but he knows if he complains YQY will just say there's no problem with them both secluding at the same time. But before he can get too upset about it, this wiry disciple of his hands over a mission scroll detailing a rampaging yao. The damage is enough LQG is intrigued so he sends sy off to inform the sect leader he'll take the mission.
Blah blah demon invasion, SY jumps in front of LBH to block the poison but sqq moisturized and in his lane after secluded meditation and uninjured from the lack of fight with LQG easily prevents disaster and then kicks shl off the mountain with the help of the array he'd been setting up the entire time the matches were going on. SY realizes that definitely happened in PIDW but LBH was too untrained to realize what he was seeing.
SY then starts his Abyss training program with LBH. For this, he leans into learning BZP techniques just to teach to LBH.
At the IAC, when things go to hell, sy sends LBH away from where the abyss will open, planning to fight the rhino-python and, if necessary, go to hell himself. He doesn't realize the abyss location was "where LBH is" rather than a spot on a map. He arrives in time to find sqq SEVERELY injured from fighting MBJ and LBH already gone into the abyss.
SY stares brokenly at the shards of zhengyang before helping sqq with his wounds.
They're bad enough sqq has lost control of his hormones and pheromones and they're running rampant through his body after decades of suppression. There's no pretending he's not an omega now.
SJ has blood dripping from his mouth, at least one lung is punctured.
"I had to do it."
"I don't care what you have to say"
"you marked that beast as your own kit, but where were you?"
SY just continues applying medicine
"I know why you let him ruin you. A heavenly demon. If I hadn't sent him into the abyss, he'd already be murdered by these so-called righteous cultivators."
SJ grabs him by the collar and forces SY to meet his gaze, as unfocused as it is. SQQ'S face is red and suffering the weight of denied instincts and cycles.
"I saved your brat and where were you?"
SY comes to many conclusions in a single instant
1. SQQ may not be in heat but he's definitely not in his right mind
2. They have both been blasting their pheromones out of control the whole time
3. SQQ has clearly done whatever the opposite of "emotionality washing your hands of SY" is
4. SY's body is very, very much on the same page.
HELLO SYSTEM WHAT HE'S NOT THE PROTAGONIST OF TOXIC DOOMED DANMEI????
He decides to ignore all of that and instead get sqq to the healers. As they're staggering along, LQG shows up and immediately gets into a pissing match with SQQ over which of them has SY as an alpha and SY didn't even know LQG was an omega, let alone any of THAT and decides he's not going to deal with it and orders his shizun to get someone to collect the shards of zhengyang
-
Afterward, sqq acts like nothing happened until SY is officially guaned at which point he makes it clear that he believes SY to be his little alpha who needs to be a good boy and come home
At which point his sexuality crisis actually abates a little bc sqq is an omega, he's an alpha. That's basically a straight couple, nothing gay going on there.
LQG tells him he doesn't have to go and makes an offer of his own which sy responds to with "don't be ridiculous, you're my teacher"
(by this point one of the haha masters explained where SY came from and his tenure as head disciple of qjp so LQG is just left speechless at this bizarre leap of logic)

Some of Tee and Ja'Marr's thoughts on the Tee Situation
Tee said to me 'right now I get to play with one of the, if not the, best quarterbacks in the game, I get to play with one of, if not the, best wide receivers in the game, that opens up so much more for me.' And then he said 'this offense is designed for so many different players to be spotlighted, the way that I am used in this offense so plays to my strengths.' And then he said to me, 'can you guarantee I can have that exact situation anywhere else?'
....
So do I think he's taking a home discount? No. But I do think that he is very very smart, he sees the whole picture out there...
....
It's very easy to compare this situation to what Ja'Marr had at LSU with Joe Burrow and Justin Jefferson. And Ja'Marr has said Tee is very different than Justin Jefferson. That every single minute with Justin Jefferson was a competition. That everything was who makes the more dynamic catch, who has more catches in practice, who runs faster? Everything was that way. Ja'Marr had to speak up and demand the ball a lot at LSU, because so was Justin. Ja'Marr told me that he doesn't have to do that in Cincinnati because Tee, and this is a quote from Ja'Marr, is one of the most unselfish humans you'll ever meet.
#VERY VERY INTERESTING STUFF#also fuck evan this guy is so annoying he KEPT interrupting her through her whole segment and then smiled all condescending like#'what about the money you idiot woman'#and it's like YES the money IS a good point#this could easily all just be talk from tee and ja'marr#because tee DOES deserve all the money he can get#he DOES also deserve the chance at being WR1 if that's what he wants#(he has always done well as WR1 when ja'marr is out/hurt)#so like yes. those are important caveats.#that can definitely be talking points without evan's annoying ass comments and interruptions and looks#(like dude are you not also just some sideline reporter? no need to act like you're better than aditi. BUT WHATEVER)#very interesting considerations! that tee is aware of all the good of his current situation#and may not want to change it at all??#again. could just be saying shit. actions speak louder than words and all that#but the action of dropping your agent (who has the BEST track record of getting guaranteed money) only to go to the agent of the guy#who the front office is going to try to leverage your negotiations against#is like. well. that feels very very deliberate!!#that these two are going to put up a united front. to try to do their best to stay together AND get paid.#which sounds too good to be true tbh!#and then ja'marr comparing his relationship with justin and his relationship with tee!!#both important relationships! both beautiful connections!#and like. justin and ja'marr NEEDED that kind of relationship in college#one of support and competition. pushing each other to be their best. so that they could come into the league#and break all these records almost immediately#and then now a more settled relationship with tee. calmer softer maybe.#that post about how important relationships that let you REST are#man. man. i could go on forever about all of this but this is already too much!!!#tee higgins#ja'marr chase#cincinnati bengals

what about jinx and reader who’s a ballerina, she has to dance with guys on a regular for shows 👀
chefs kiss nonnie. u guys are geniuses.
toxic!jinx masterlist
she comes to watch every single one of your shows obviously, she wouldn’t miss it for the world. she’s so proud of you and how far you’ve come with your ballet career.
there is just one small thing.
the shows more often than not make her pretty angry, specifically when you are partnered up with a guy.
you’re a beautiful dancer, and jinx loves to watch you until some ugly stupid idiot worthless guy who probably doesn’t even know how to treat a woman comes onto the stage and starts to dance with you.
she’s shifting in her seat, picking at her nails and biting her lip while watching this fool lift you up and spin you around, apparently you have to and it’s part of the dance. yeah, whatever. she does not like it.
a couple of the guys from your ballet school seem to be much more confident than the others. while the audience applause and cheer after the show, they’ll kiss your hand or even your cheek. your smile is unwavering, but jinx knows you don’t like it. you complain about it the second you get to her after you’re released by your teacher.
so she tries her best to encourage them to stop doing it.
she’ll come to your final rehearsals, being basically the only one in the audience (you did have to beg your teacher to let her come and watch) of the huge theatre, and cheer for you. she clambered onto the stage a couple of times to hug you but she got scolded badly by you and the staff.
she’ll kiss you very obviously just when she sees your male dance partner coming up to discuss something with you. with your lipstick smudged over both of your faces, you’re too focused on wiping it off of jinx’s lips while she does the same to you, to notice the dejected look on your partner’s face. jinx notices, though, and is pleased that such a simple action could steer him away.
on the day of the show, she’ll help you with your makeup. powdering your cheeks gently and telling you how beautiful you look. she’s actually quite good with makeup and she does it on you a lot, she finds it quite relaxing.
her final act of making sure that guy stays away from you is loudly saying something like “hopefully no one messes it up after the show!” when she’s finished the final touches. it’s kind of obvious she’s referencing something from the tone of her voice, but you’re too nervous for your show to ask what she’s talking about.
jinx makes her way to her seat, the one she sits it every time that you reserve for her. it’s the best seat in the house. perfect, unobstructed view of the stage.
once the show is over, and you’re presented with a bouquet of flowers by your ballet teacher, the audience begins their applause. unfortunately your male dance partner takes your hand, to which jinx furrows her brows at, but he doesn’t kiss you at all, which is a win.
she can put up with a small hand hold for now. just as long as she gets to watch her precious baby dance.

Tbh I can't help but feel deeply sorry for the both of them
SPOILERS FOR WICKED PART 2
When you look at it, Nessa lost both her father and sister in a very short amount of time. It is very clear that her father doted on her and Elphie was very protective of her.
So Nessa lost both these very important figures in her life and she was thrown into a position of power she was a) too young to handle, and b) absolutely and completely unprepared for.
So of FREAKING COURSE she would form an unhealthy emotional dependency on the one support she still has, ie Boq. And she would be terrified of Boq leaving her, because that's what people Nessa loves do. Her mother died, her father died, her sister became a terrorist. What if Boq leaves? Boq who said he didn't care about Nessa's disability? Boq who called her wonderful and beautiful and amazing? No Boq loves her, Boq wouldn't leave, Boq cannot leave.
So Nessa will do whatever she can to ensure that Boq won't leave. And of COURSE when he does leave she snaps.
Nessa was never inherently evil, she was a young girl with abandonment issues who was pushed to the extreme (and no I am not saying her being Ashamed of Elphie was a good thing, but again Nessa was young and pushed by her father into an unhealthy relationship with her sister ever since childhood).
As for Boq - listen Boq is in the beginning a kind guy. Not the smartest, but he didn’t MEAN to harm anyone. He had a crush on Galinda, and Galinda manipulated him into asking Nessarose out as a pity case. That is cruel towards Nessa, and Boq knows that. That's why when Nessa asks him if that's the case, Boq can't bring himself to say the truth. And the more he waits the worse it becomes, because then he finds himself becoming the only emotional support for this girl and how freaking cruel would it be to tell her "yes it was always because you were in the chair"?
And then Nessa starts losing it and Boq literally CANNOT leave at that point because Nessa won't LET him. He is trapped and I am sorry but having your entire people enslaved is an absolutely unjust punishment for being an ableist idiot that one night in college ok?
And the fact is, he completely misunderstood the reason WHY Nessa is so attached to him. He doesn't understand that Nessa is a lonely girl with zero emotional support because all of her family is dead or gone, he thinks the problem is that Nessa is lonely because she is disabled. And he believes that because that's how their relationship was initially framed, and since he couldn't bring himself to admit it to Nessa (first out of pity and then out of genuine fear) that initial framing was never challenged.
So when Elphie in the musical makes it so Nessa can walk, obviously the first thing Boq does is trying to leave because he completely misunderstood why Nessa didn't want him to leave in the first place.
And again this is NOT a justification for how Boq then blames it all on Elphaba. The point is that blaming Elphaba is easy. Elphaba is the scapegoat because it is much easier to say "that Wicked Witch made it happen" that to examine the absolute emotional mess that brought them to the point where no one will mourn Nessa when she gets crushed by a house and Boq becomes a walking tin.
I just - they're such a mess and I can't wait to see how the movie will handle it.
Being a Wicked fan whose favourite characters are Boq and Nessarose is so hard because for a fandom for media so focused around the idea of complex morality, a lot of Wicked fans seem to have no understanding of complex morality and as a result so many of them fail to grasp the idea that "Boq did not deserve anything that Nessa did to him in act 2 and it is in no way his fault" and "Nessarose was not inherently and irredeemably evil from the start" are both true statements. So basically I'm trying not to participate in Wicked discourse at least until Wicked Part 2 comes out and I see more of their relationship in the movie.

The Au Pair Boy Part 10
Just a reminder no posting next week, as I have to recover from the holidays and all the fics I wrote.
Eddie throws a homecoming party and friends get hella pushy, so both Steve and Eddie push back
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6 Pt 7 Part 8 Part 9
~
The next night Eddie threw a coming home party and invited all the people Steve had hired, the D&D boys (Mike and Dustin), and even let Steve bring Robin as his plus one.
As Steve walked in with Robin, he instantly spotted three men he didn’t know. The broad-chested black man was talking to Charles in one corner of the room, while the other two, a heavy set man and a short, curly haired man was talking to Dustin. And judging from how animated they were getting, Steve was gonna bet they were talking about D&D.
He had even had a chance to look for their host, when Eddie came bounding up to them with a big grin on his face.
“Stevie!” he greeted warmly. “You made it! Everyone else is here at the ball, Cinderella. Come, come meet my friends.”
Eddie grabbed Steve’s hand and dragged him over to the two talking with Dustin first. “This is Bri-guy and Gare-bear!”
Steve laughed and shook their hands. “I’m the nanny.”
Eddie bumped their shoulders together. “He’s much more than that, he’s an amazing cook and the girls love him.”
“I’m Brian and this Gareth,” Brian said shaking his head. “And we know all about you. This idiot wouldn’t stop talking about the an–”
Eddie slapped his hand over Brian’s mouth and grinned brightly at Steve. “I think that’s about enough of these two, don’cha think?”
Robin got a twinkle of mischief in her eye. “Not at all. I haven’t introduced myself. I’m Robin, the best friend and platonic soulmate of Steve. We’ve been friends for ages. How long have you known Eddie?”
Gareth grinned at her, sensing a partner in crime. “Oh ages. We all went to high school together. I’m not the original drummer and Bri isn’t the original bassist, but we’re the lightning in the bottle that made Corroded Coffin what it is today.”
Eddie dropped his hand from Brian’s mouth to put his hands on his hips. “How dare!”
Brian and Gareth cackled. And suddenly they were joined but whom Steve assumed was the final member of Corroded Coffin, Jeff Lawrence.
“Are we all picking on Eddie?” he asked gleefully.
“No!” Eddie and Steve cried at the same time the other three cried, “Yes!”
Jeff snapped his fingers. “Ooh! I like her! Jeff, the better guitarist of Corroded Coffin and its lead singer.”
Eddie pushed Jeff. “Oh get out. Only for the last album when we were trying something different. It was not something the fans liked. Asshole.”
“I’ve got to tease you, man,” Jeff huffed with a grin. “It’s so easy!”
“This is Jeffy,” Eddie groused, folding his arms like a scolded toddler. “Meet Steve and Robin.”
“Nice to put a name to the faces,” Jeff said with a charming grin. “Eddie talked all about Steve so Robin’s name came up a lot.”
Steve blushed, but Robin grinned.
“Glad to hear I made it to the dispatch notes,” she said, then turned to Eddie. “I’ve got to say, I really love this house. It looks like it stepped out of pages of a gothic horror film. It’s awesome!”
Eddie took a bow. “Why thank you, my lady!” He looked around his house proudly. “That was the look I was going for. I can’t stand all this sterile white, grey, and beige bullshit that is in vogue right now. Give me color and character!”
“Have you seen what Steve’s done to his room yet?” Robin asked cheerfully, knowing full well what she was insinuating.
Eddie flushed a bright pink, shoving his hair in face to hide the blush and Steve stared at her in wide-eye, slack-jawed shock.
“Robin!” he hissed, flapping his hands at her in embarrassment and dismay.
She grinned at him unrepentantly, folding her arms over her chest and sitting back to see what Eddie would say.
“I–I um...” he coughed. “I haven’t had the opportunity to see how Steve spruced up the place, no.”
“Robin,” Steve said low and deep in warning. “Eddie hasn’t had a reason to see my rooms yet as he’s only been home for thirty-six hours.”
Robin just batted her eyelashes at him innocently. “I would have thought he would have wanted to see what you did to the rooms he’s letting you use in his house.”
The other three members of the band were falling over each other, just cackling over this exchange. Steve was red from the tips of his ears all the way down the dip in his collar. Eddie’s mind tried to follow the thought of how much further the blush went. He didn’t have to think about it long as Steve grabbed Robin and hauled her off elsewhere.
He turned to his friends. “Oh shut it. Assholes.”
“Dude,” Jeff said breathlessly clutching his sides, “like that was the most pathetic thing I’ve ever witnessed and that includes the time Gareth tried to hit on the supermodel that last Grammy’s.”
“Hey!” Gareth huffed. “I got a date out of that, I’ll have you know!”
Brian put his arm around Gareth’s shoulder. “After I told her that you weren’t as big an ass as that interaction displayed. She was going to lose your number, man.”
Gareth folded his arms and pouted. “I hate you both.”
“But seriously, Ed,” Jeff said turning his attention back to Eddie who had been trying to slip away from them before they noticed he was gone.
He failed.
“It’s obvious he has the hots for you,” Jeff continued, “so why aren’t you tapping that ass? You wouldn’t shut up about him the whole time we were on tour. It was actually kinda annoying.”
“For real,” Brian agreed. “And please I don’t want to hear how you’re not ready to get out there again after Ethan left, or how you’re paying him to look after you girls because I’ve seen him with them and holy shit they adore him.”
Eddie buried his head in his hands. “Guys, I haven’t been home for forty-eight hours yet. Can you not try and hook me up with my daughters’ nanny for fuck sake?” He peered around Jeff, making sure Steve was out of earshot. “I don’t really know him yet. Yes, we talked a lot about everything during the tour but I haven’t had to live with him under my roof yet. I could hate the way he takes three showers a day or whatever.”
Jeff and Brian shared an exasperated look as Brian threw his hands in the air. “What does that have to do with anything?”
Eddie crossed his arms over his chest and took a step back on one leg. “That maybe if me and Ethan had lived together before we got married, maybe the marriage wouldn’t have blown up like it did.”
It was a small and simple “Oh,” from Jeff, but it encapsulated all the feelings of the three other members of Corroded Coffin.
“Shit,” Gareth hissed, running his fingers through his hair. “I’m sorry. We shouldn’t have pushed but we just wanted you to be happy. And you light up around Steve in a way I haven’t seen you do in years.”
“What would you know?” Eddie spat bitterly. He looked around at all of them. “What would any of you know? You scattered like kids around a broken window the second the band broke up. And where were you when Ethan left? Or when Wayne broke his leg? I appreciated the tour, it really helped me prioritize things. But you don’t get to come into my house and act like you’ve been there the whole fucking time when you haven’t.”
Eddie stormed off, leaving the three of them there with shocked expressions.
“Shit,” Jeff said, hissing out a pained breath. “He’s right. Fuck. He’s right. We should have flown out the second he told us about Ethan. But we kept putting it off until the deal about the tour came around and then suddenly we were interested in his life only when it benefited us.”
Gareth ran his hands down his face and rolled his eyes skyward. “Fuck. What kind of friends have we been? Like we’re all rich enough that hopping on a plane wouldn’t have even dented our fortunes at all. We should have been for the messy divorce and been helping take care of the girls. But what were we even doing that couldn’t have been put on hold?”
“I was the closest,” Jeff huffed. “I was in New York. Hell, I could driven down. But little shit just kept cropping up. Miranda’s health scare. Then she got pregnant and lost the baby. Which were important at the time, but Eddie needed me.”
“I don’t have any excuse,” Gareth said, shaking his head. “Because yeah, I was on the otherside of the world, but Eddie would have flown around the world a dozen times for me, but I couldn’t fly half way.”
Brian’s lip quivered. “My mom got cancer around the time, but I don’t think she would have begrudged me flying out to see Eddie. But I didn’t even give it a second thought.”
Jeff looked around the room for Eddie and spotted him standing next to Steve. Robin wandered off, leaving Steve sitting on a table, ankles crossed, swinging them back and forth, drink in hand as he listened to some story Eddie was telling him.
Jeff continued to watch as Eddie must have said something funny, because Steve threw head back and laughed.
“I think I see the silver lining to our neglect, boys,” he murmured, pointing out the tableau before them.
The other two men turned and looked. Steve was nodding vigorously, big smile on his face as he told his own story to Eddie.
“Because if we had been here to help Eddie around the house,” Jeff continued, “then he wouldn’t have gotten so desperate to hire a male nanny. Yeah, we fucked up. We pushed too hard. But damn boys, look at what grew in that barren wasteland, anyway.”
“So it’s settled,” Brian said, “we’re all staying in Indy to help Eddie and Steve get together, right?”
Gareth nodded. “Damn straight we are. Plus those kids Steve found to play D&D, I’d stick around just to see their style.”
“Looks like Operation: Refriend Eddie is a go, boys,” Jeff said excitedly, putting his arms around both of his friends. “And maybe we’ll get a wedding out of this, too.”
~
Steve had given Robin a good talking to. Like maybe don’t proposition his boss on his behalf before the sheets had even had time to warm up, yeah?
It took some proper talking to her to before she relented and apologized. Then stomped off to find some real booze. Steve knew she was going to raid Eddie’s liquor cabinet, but considering most of it was already out, he didn’t figure Eddie would mind too much.
Then a glass of whiskey was being dangled in front of him. He looked up to see Eddie smiling down at him. Steve took the glass with a murmur of thanks.
“Here’s to interfering best friends!” Steve said raising his glass to Eddie’s.
Eddie clinked their glasses together with wary smile. “I just wish they had been around more before they started interfering in my business. They weren’t around to pick up the pieces, so they don’t get to decide when to change puzzles.”
“Here’s to that.” Steve took a drink. “Robin is just trying to make sure I’m happy and she knows how much I love this place.” He shook his head. “I’m content with being the Au Pair Boy. I don’t need anything else.”
“You are much more than that,” Eddie said fiercely. “My girls love you. You’re special, don’t sell yourself short.”
“I promise.” Steve looked up at him through his eyelashes. “I love those little girls too.”
“Don’t look now,” Eddie said with a grin, “but I think our friends are spying on us.”
Steve took a drink of his whiskey and looked up through his eyelashes and sure enough the Corroded Coffin boys and Robin were all looking over at them, trying to look they weren’t.
“Quick, laugh!” Eddie said and Steve burst out laughing genuinely. “Oh, that was perfect. Good job.”
“Learning the art of actually laughing when you’re supposed to be fake laughing,” Steve said warmly, “is a skill taught to the children of socialites like my mother from birth.”
“I wish they gave you a crash course when you become famous,” Eddie said with a weary smile, “because holy shit it’s like being dumped in a shark tank!”
Steve winced in sympathy. “Yeah, they should teach classes and stuff.”
“Annoying best friends aside,” Eddie murmured. “I’m really glad you’re here.”
Steve looked up into his eyes and smiled fondly. “I am too.”

Pining Idiots
written for @steddieholidaydrabbles day 28
prompt: pining | rated: T | wc: 1.000 | tags: post vecna, mild angst, feelings realisation, love confession, friends to lovers, best friend Robin Buckley
"You are both so stupid. Hopeless and stupid." Robin throws her hands in the air, frustrated and all out of patience.
Steve must've heard her say those words about a hundred times already but still, he can't find it in him to believe that there's even a flicker of truth within her reasoning.
If Robin were right, Steve would've caught Eddie by now, apparently stealing glances at him. Because there's no way he'd miss Eddie's dark eyes lingering on him, not when Steve's own - for whatever reason - are constantly locked on the guy. He feels naturally drawn to Eddie, has this weird connection to him he can't really explain. But contrary to what Robin is trying to make him consider, he doesn't accept that it's... love.
They're friends. Good friends, maybe even the best. Grown so close over time that now, barely a day goes by where they don't spend time together. Always attached at the hip, somehow even worse than he is with Robin. And yes, Steve gets that it comes off strange for any outsider to see them cuddling and touching and kissing each other goodbye on the cheek without shame. That's not what male friends do, not usually. But fuck that, it's nice.
He enjoys the physical contact. Likes to relish in the other man's warmth when their bodies are pressed together on the couch, one arm around the other's shoulders, or a hand resting on the other's thigh. He likes the familiar scent of leather and cigarette smoke that clings to Eddie's hair and skin, enveloping Steve's senses whenever they're close. Eddie's presence calms him, makes him feel less on edge. After all those years of fighting Demons, it's a blessing to feel at ease.
Eddie is good for him. And Steve knows he, too, has an impact on Eddie. That he's less fidgety when Steve is near. That whenever the healed wounds start to phantom-ache, Steve's hand atop his shirt soothes his body's memorised pain.
They're each other's lifeline, something to hold on to when the turbulent waters of nightmarish dreams threaten to pull them down. This... trauma bond they share, this friendship, keeps them both afloat. But that's all there is to it.
They are not the pining idiots Robin says they are. Apparently too afraid of their feelings for each other, unable to acknowledge that there is something more between them. Emotions allegedly written all over their faces – Robin says it’s obvious, but it’s not.
This isn't love.
It can't be. Steve cannot let himself fall for this ridiculous idea. Because once he goes down that path, once he starts listening close to his heart in search of the truth, there will be no going back.
And he's not ready to lose what he has. Because inevitably, that would be the result of him breaking down the walls he's built to keep his own emotions in check.
Steve cannot love like a normal human being. He is too much, wants too much, gives too much - his love is smothering. All-consuming.
He'd only push Eddie away.
"Why don't you just ask him?"
Robin's words rip him out of his thoughts and he blinks at her confused.
They're still standing in the kitchen, their friend's voices coming from the other room.
"You know, if you don't believe me, why don't you ask him if it's true? And if it's not, well. You got nothing to lose. 'Cause you're not in love with him anyway, right?"
He doesn't miss the teasing tone, knows she's testing him, trying to break through his thick skull because she knows that he's lying to himself. Knows him better than he knows himself.
"And what if you're right?" he asks, seemingly catching her off guard with his question.
"What if you're right and he does love me back. What then? You really think I won't fuck it up again this time? That I won't ruin it again?"
It hurts to say out loud, to admit that his worst fear isn't rejection. It's the thought of having himself to blame for when it doesn't work out. As always.
And it hurts even more when Robin's face suddenly softens, eyes full of pity when she takes his hands in hers.
"Babe. It wasn't your fault. Nancy- wasn't the one for you, that's all. You were both meant for someone else, and you-" she squeezes his hands for emphasis, "You could have all those things your stupid, big heart is yearning for. Your person is sitting right there, probably already losing his mind because you've been gone from his side for too long."
Robin laughs but her eyes are glassy and Steve can feel a tear making its way down his own face.
Fuck her for always hitting him right where it aches the most. Where her unforgiving honesty settles and sticks and makes something warm spread in his chest.
"I know he loves you. And, as dreadful as the thought is because you two are going to be the worst couple ever, I hate to see you both suffer over nothing. Just talk to him. Tell him how you feel."
She pulls him into a hug, holds him tight while he lets his tears fall unrestrained. It's relieving but scary, because she is right.
"Hey, uh, everything okay?" Eddie's voice suddenly breaks through the silence, startling them apart.
"Glad you're here," Robin says, "Steve's got something to tell you." And with that, she leaves, a big grin on her face that only grows wider when Steve huffs out a wet laugh, mouthing 'I hate you' at her.
"Stevie, are you okay? Have you been crying? What's wrong?"
Steve melts at the softness of Eddie's words, his heart beating rapidly in his chest.
"I- I think I'm in love with you, Eddie."
After a moment of silence, Eddie's lips curl into a smile.
"Oh, well. If you're sure, let me know. I've been dying to finally kiss your pretty mouth.”

wild that most motogp journalists don’t mention the ~Iannone of it all~ more when discussing Sepang 2015
so right before the Extremely Consequential Question is asked, Iannone is asked about the abuse he is receiving online for obstructing Valentino’s chances at winning Phillip Island. Iannone is the one Vale’s fans have decided to lash out at more after the race — not Marc!
but Vale comes to Iannone’e defense immediately & DECISIVELY. says that he thinks those people maligning Iannone online are NOT true fans & are in fact idiots
then after comes THEE question & answer where Valentino shares his Spanish conspiracy theories. and everyone, including Marc, just kind of laughs because like…is he being serious with this???
and the journalists follow up. immediately after Vale gives his answer, they ask Marc his opinion & he’s still kind of laughing & not totally sure what to make of it
BUT THEN. they go to the other guy who was involved in that Phillip Island battle. and Iannone immediately & decisively backs up Vale & says “yes. Marc was playing with us”. and from there you can really see the shift in the room & in how seriously Marc is taking this. after Iannone answers, he stops laughing & stammers through his next response, which is a more comprehensive defense of his racing and Phillip Island
but it’s pretty clear that until that point, Marc doesn’t totally think it’s real. he thinks it’s some kind of joke he’s just not fully in on yet. but then the second it becomes clear that Iannone & Vale have discussed this separately (i think, anyway…their answers are too coordinated imo for them to have not) he realizes no. it’s Serious. and he responds as such
idk I just find Iannone’s influence so fascinating & under-discussed, both in the Phillip Island race AND the Sepang Presser!

So.. Sarcastic Chorus has retired from doing Helluvaverse content. This is a huge blow to the series. If you somehow don’t know, Sarcastic Chorus is the Helluvaverse YouTuber. He’s done so many analysis videos, it’s kind of part of his brand in the same way FNAF is associated with MatPat. The fact that Chorus left the shows is crazy, but, honestly, it’s just a testament to how bad this show has been getting.
This is the view count for the first three episodes for seasons 1 and 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if you think that’s bad, look at the difference between the season finales for each season
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I know technically Ozzie’s isn’t the season finale, but Queen Bee doesn’t count because of how long it took to come out)
People are tired of the show focusing on the wrong things. I seriously recommend Chorus’s video, it has so many good points. And one point I really want to talk about is Stolas.
I talk a lot about the bad writing in the show in general and how I don’t like Stolas, but I just want to say, I don’t like him anymore. I used to really like his character.. but season 2 completely ruined him for me because they refuse to acknowledge that he has any flaws. Rather than tell “we know Stolitz has flaws on both sides of the relationship, both will work on that,” instead, it’s all just Blitzo. They’ve spent 3 whole episodes just shitting on Blitzo, when… where’s that same treatment for Stolas? Stolas is a classist, racist, rapist. But the show seems to just… forget this. They’re backpedaling so hard, I'm surprised they haven’t fallen off the bike.
I used to find Stolas an interesting character and I was so excited to see where they would take his flaws and mistakes. Like, think about it. Stolas is completely naive, having been sheltered his whole life. The only concept for genuine intimacy he has comes from erotica. Of course he’s going to have a skewed idea of what sex is like when the only sex he’s ever had is with Stella, who, and I quote, “just lays there staring at the wall” where Stella has to do all the work. Ya… that is fucked and a form of sexual abuse, just like what Stolas does to Blitzo. So, I was interested to see where they would take this cycle of abuse that Stolas is so accustomed to and how they were going to have him break it. How was Stolas going to learn his idea of intimacy is wrong?
Well… he doesn’t. Not really. He does realize this transaction is wrong, but, when he tells this all to Blitzo and when Blitzo doesn’t have the reaction he wants, Stolas throws a fucking tantrum. He walks away and refuses to let Blitzo speak, he denies having ever done anything wrong, says that Blitzo was the one who always makes things about sex when that is NOT TRUE. And the worst part? The show treats Stolas like he’s right. They never do anything to show us that Stolas is a hypocrite, instead, like I said earlier, only punishing Blitzo. And don’t even pull the “he was banished” card! Stolas was not being punished for being a neglectful father, or for being an abusive partner. He was being punished… for a heroic sacrifice. He was being banished because Andre doesn’t like him and everyone is mean to Stolas so we have to feel so bad for him, guys!
I just… I started to have my doubts for the show around Full Moon, but I wanted to stick with the show. I liked Apology Tour, but did find it a bit weird that Stolas was being woobied, but I just assumed it was because the next episode, Stolas would be the one receiving the punishing. But the next episode.. WAS ANOTHER HATE ON BLITZO EPISODE. So I told myself, boy I told myself, that the next episode will be focusing on Stolas’s flaws, on Stolas’s part on why this relationship didn’t work. AND THEY DIDN’T FUCKING DO THAT STILL. In fact, Mastermind was just full of Stolas unnecessarily insulting Blitzo, calling him an idiot and whatnot. Like.. GIVE THIS GUY A BREAK, HOLY FUCK. WE GET IT.
This show has gotten so fucking infuriating. Good on Chorus for leaving. Me, personally? I’m going to keep watching, out of curiosity and because I hate myself, but if the show gets anymore infuriating, I may just leave. Because this show is so non-self aware with its black and white writing while it tries so damn hard to have a moral high horse.
So, actually, no. Not ‘fuck Stolas’. Fuck the writers for being so blind to the kinds of behaviors they are endorsing and encouraging with him.

The Alpha Phi living room smells like a mix of old pizza, faint cologne, and someone's leftover gym socks, probably Changbin's, based on the guilty glance he shoots toward the corner of the couch. Felix lounges at the centre of the chaos, legs stretched out and crossed at the ankle on the coffee table, holding a Red Bull like it’s his life force.
“Alright, listen up, dickheads zero through five,” Felix announces, voice cutting through the buzz of chatter like a knife.
Minho, seated next to him with his arms casually sprawled across the back of the couch, raises an eyebrow. “Not me, though, right?”
Felix tilts his head toward Minho with a smirk. “Not you, Min. You’re an evil angel, and I love having you here.”
Minho grins, sharp and smug, clearly revelling in the attention. Jisung immediately leans forward from his perch on the floor, waving a hand. “What number am I?”
“Two,” Felix says without hesitation, pointing at him with the Red Bull. “Chan’s number one.”
Jisung’s face splits into a shit-eating grin, and he wiggles his eyebrows at Chan, who’s perched in the armchair nearby with his usual relaxed confidence. Without any preamble, Jisung climbs into Chan’s lap like it’s the most natural thing in the world, snuggling against him and fiddling with a fidget cube. Chan chuckles, resting one hand on Jisung’s hip.
“Fine with me,” Jisung mutters, twisting the cube over and over. “I’ll take number two if it means I get first dibs on this guy.”
“Gross,” Seungmin deadpans from the other couch, tossing a pillow in their direction. “We get it, you’re disgustingly in love.”
“Jealous?” Jisung fires back, not missing a beat.
“Hard pass.”
Jeongin, who’s been scrolling on his phone next to Seungmin, pipes up. “So, what’s up? You’re building to something.”
Felix straightens, his expression growing just a little more serious. “My sister’s coming over tomorrow.”
Immediately, a wave of groans rolls through the room, but Felix cuts them off with a sharp glare. “Shut the fuck up and listen, okay? She’s coming over to practice some SFX on me and Minho, and you know how anxious she is. So no scaring her, got it? I’m looking at you, Hyunjin.”
Hyunjin, sprawled dramatically across the other armchair with his long legs dangling over one side, raises both hands in mock surrender. “What the fuck did I do?”
“You almost gave her a stroke last time,” Felix snaps, jabbing a finger in his direction. “Which is why you’re dickhead zero, the eternal source of my disdain, affectionately, of course.”
“I told her she looked pretty!” Hyunjin protests, clearly offended. “How is that a crime?”
“You terrified her with your pretty frat boy bullshit!” Felix throws his hands up. “She has anxiety, you dumbass, and you made her turtle.”
Hyunjin blinks. “Turtle?”
Felix rolls his eyes so hard it’s a wonder they don’t get stuck. “Disappear inside her shell. Like turtles do, idiot.”
Minho, watching the exchange with a small smirk, finally chimes in. “Don’t worry. I’ll keep them reined in.”
Felix blows Minho a kiss, the pink tips of his ears betraying his casual tone. “Thanks, Min.”
The room erupts into groans and exaggerated gagging sounds, but Felix ignores them. He levels the rest of the group with a sharp look. “Best behaviour. You hear me?”
A collective murmur of agreement goes around the room. Changbin nods solemnly. “Got it, chief.”
“Scout’s honour,” Seungmin says, holding up three fingers.
Felix doesn’t even pause before snapping back, “You were never a scout a day in your life. Shut the fuck up.”
Minho chuckles low in his throat, and Felix shoots him a fond glance before continuing. “Minho’s the only one who doesn’t freak her out, so the rest of you better leave her alone. She’s coming here to practice, not to deal with you idiots.”
Jeongin, ever the instigator, smirks. “The only reason Minho doesn’t freak her out is because you and him see her once a week for dinner at her apartment. Brother, sister, and brother’s sort-of-undefined-but-basically-dating boyfriend.”
Felix’s ears turn a brighter shade of pink, and he sputters, “That’s not—”
“It was a process, believe us,” Minho interrupts smoothly, leaning forward to rest his chin on his hand. He gives Jeongin a slow, deliberate wink. “But you’re not wrong.”
“See?” Jeongin shrugs. “I’m just saying.”
The room falls into a comfortable rhythm of teasing and chatter, but two pairs of eyes linger on Felix for just a moment longer than the rest. Chan’s and Jisung’s. Chan’s gaze softens as it shifts, landing on the small space between Felix’s explanation and the mention of his sister.
Jisung catches Chan’s look, his lips quirking up into a knowing smile. It’s the same thought, unspoken but clear between them: tomorrow’s visit isn’t just about SFX practice.
It’s about seeing you.
Tumblr media
The Alpha Phi house looms in front of you, just as chaotic and intimidating as always. The faint sounds of bass-heavy music thrum from somewhere inside, even though it’s not even noon.
You take a deep breath and clutch the strap of your makeup case tighter. The last time you knocked on this door without a plan, Hyunjin had answered, and your anxiety had spiralled out of control before you’d even crossed the threshold.
Not this time. Felix and Minho are already outside, leaning casually against the porch railing, waiting for you.
“Finally,” Felix calls out as soon as he spots you approaching. His blonde hair gleams in the sunlight, and he’s already wearing his signature shit-eating grin. “Took you long enough, slowpoke.”
You roll your eyes but can’t stop the small smile that creeps onto your face. “Traffic,” you mutter, hefting your makeup case as you reach the steps.
Minho pushes off the railing, straightening up. His red hair is pushed back today, giving him an air of effortless cool that would probably be irritating if it weren’t for the slight curve of his lips that softens the look. Without a word, he takes the case from your hands like it weighs nothing.
“Thanks,”
“No problem,” Minho says, his voice smooth and calm. He gestures toward the front door with a nod. “We’ve cleared the hallway and stairs for you. Path to Felix’s room is officially fuckboy-free.”
You let out a laugh, your shoulders easing a little. “Good. I don’t think I could survive another Hyunjin ambush.”
Felix snorts, opening the door for you. “Yeah, well, he’s banned from being anywhere near the front of the house when you’re coming over. Lesson learned.”
“Damn right,” you mutter, stepping inside. “So, no flirting this time?”
Minho smirks. “Not unless you’re into compliments like ‘you look like you belong in a museum.’ That’s what got you last time, right?”
You groan. “Please don’t remind me.”
Felix waves a hand dismissively. “Don’t worry, he’s not even awake yet. I think he stayed up all night painting or something. Total disaster.”
The three of you make your way up the stairs, Minho carrying your case with ease. “So,” he says, glancing back at you, “what are we doing today? Zombies? Scars? Some gory masterpiece to make my mother proud?”
You chuckle nervously. “Uh, SFX injuries, if that’s okay? I need to work on realistic wounds for my portfolio.”
“Wounds it is,” Minho says without missing a beat. He holds the case up slightly. “You brought all your murder tools, I assume?”
“Always,” you say, grinning despite yourself.
You don’t notice Jisung peeking out from the slightly cracked door of his room as you pass, his silver hair messy and his eyes wide with interest. He stays quiet, though, watching as the three of you disappear down the hall toward Felix’s room.
When you step inside, the familiar chaos of Felix’s room greets you. Posters are plastered across the walls in a chaotic patchwork of vibrant colours, and his gaming setup blinks with multicoloured LEDs in the corner. Felix flops into his gaming chair immediately, spinning in a lazy circle as Minho sets your case down gently on the bed.
“Sorry about… all of this,” you say, gesturing vaguely around the room. Your voice comes out softer, more hesitant. “Making the guys stay out of the way and everything.”
“Don’t be stupid,” Minho says, sitting down beside you on the bed. His tone is casual, but there’s a firmness to it that makes you feel a little less guilty. “The guys are a lot, even on a good day. This is nothing.”
Felix hums in agreement, spinning once more in his chair before planting his feet and leaning forward. “Seriously, you don’t have to apologize. They’re all idiots, but they know better than to mess with you. And if they don’t, Min and I will handle it.”
You glance down at your hands, fiddling with the anxiety rings on your fingers. Felix notices, of course, but doesn’t say anything. Instead, he distracts you the only way he knows how by grinning at you like he’s just had the best idea in the world.
“So, murder makeup, huh?” he says. “Think you can make Minho look even hotter with a giant gash across his face?”
“Easily,” you say, a laugh bubbling out of you before you can stop it.
Minho raises an eyebrow, clearly amused. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”
“It was,” you admit, feeling a little less nervous now as you pull out your supplies. “Thanks for, you know being cool about this.”
“Always,” Minho says simply, his tone so genuine that it surprises you.
Felix wheels his gaming chair closer to the bed, the wheels creaking against the hardwood floor. He plants his elbows on the edge of the mattress and leans in, watching you as you sort through your SFX makeup kit.
The little compartments are crammed with pigments, brushes, sponges, and bottles of fake blood in varying shades of grotesque. Minho leans back on the bed next to you, his sharp gaze flicking between your hands and Felix, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
“Alright, let’s do this,” Felix says, clapping his hands together like he’s rallying a team. His grin is mischievous, practically glowing with chaotic energy. “I wanna scare the shit out of Jisung and Chan, just like when you did that burns look”
Minho snorts, his laughter low and amused. “We should’ve filmed that for you. The way Jisung screamed when he saw you standing there? Priceless.”
Felix tips his head back and cackles. “He looked like he saw a ghost”
You shake your head, but you can’t help the small laugh that escapes. “You’re such a menace,” you mutter, pulling a headband out of your bag and holding it up. “Okay, sit still, Lix.”
Felix obeys and lets you push the headband over his head, sweeping his bleach-blonde hair back from his face. The ends stick out in every direction, and you grimace, running a finger through one crunchy strand.
“You need to put a hair mask in this disaster,” you say, holding up a particularly fried piece. “The bleach is murdering it.”
“I’ve been telling him that for weeks,” Minho says, leaning forward to inspect Felix’s hair critically. His tone is playful, but there’s an undercurrent of concern. “Baby boy, you’re gonna go bald by twenty-five at this rate.”
You gag dramatically at the nickname. “Ew. Minho, please. I’m trying to work here.”
Felix rolls his eyes, brushing both of you off. “Whatever, it’s fine. I’ll deal with it later.”
“Later isn’t good enough,” you say, wagging a brush at him like a weapon. “You’ll be doing comb-overs by the time you graduate if you don’t fix this now.”
Felix groans, but there’s no real bite to it. He stays still as you start applying a base layer of makeup to his face, smoothing out the colour to prep for the fake wounds. The rhythmic motion is soothing, and you quickly fall into a comfortable flow.
Minho grabs his phone and starts scrolling. A moment later, the opening notes of a Little Mix song fill the room. He turns the volume up, the beat bouncing off the walls. “Little Mix is undefeated,” Minho says, reclining again with a self-satisfied smile.
“You’re so right,” you reply, adding a streak of red to Felix’s cheekbone. “They’re perfect for this.”
Felix hums along to the song, swaying slightly as you blend out the faux injury. “I feel like a bad bitch already.”
“You are a bad bitch,” Minho chimes in. “You just happen to have the hair care routine of a gremlin.”
Before Felix can retort, the next song starts. The three of you are nodding along to the beat, when a loud voice from the hallway joins in, belting out the chorus with alarming enthusiasm.
Felix’s head snaps toward the door, his expression shifting to murderous in an instant. “Jisung! Go away!” he yells, his voice cutting through the music. “You know not to come near my room when my sister’s here!”
A loud, theatrical whine echoes back. “But it’s Little Mix! You can’t expect me to not sing along!”
You glance at Felix, stifling a laugh as he throws his hands up in frustration. “I swear to God,” he mutters, leaning back in his chair.
Before he can get up, another voice cuts in, Chan’s, calm and soothing. “Come on, babe. Let’s go play Little Mix in your room, yeah?”
There’s a beat of silence, then the unmistakable sound of Jisung perking up. “Really? You mean it?”
“Yes,” Chan replies, laughter evident in his voice. “Come on. Let’s go.”
The two of them disappear down the hall, but not before you hear the exaggerated sound of Jisung smooching Chan. It’s so loud and obnoxious that it sends Felix spiralling into a fit of cackles.
“They’re so fucking gross,” Felix mutters, wiping a tear from his eye as he settles back into position. “Alright, where were we?”
“Making you look like you got into a bar fight,” you reply, dipping your brush into the next colour. “Now hold still, or I’ll make it worse.”
“Can’t get much worse than it already is,” Minho teases, and Felix flips him off without missing a beat. “I’m gonna order us food. Any objections?”
Your hands pause mid-blend as you work on Felix’s makeup. “Oh, no, it’s fine,” you say quickly, the words spilling out in a rush. “I’m not really hungry.”
Felix scoffs so hard that he nearly dislodges the headband. “She’ll have the least spicy tteokbokki you can find,” he says, completely ignoring your protest. “She can’t handle spice, just like me. We’re not freaks like you, Min, who eat the spiciest shit they can find for fun. Order her food. She’s just being her little anxious self, panicking about you buying her food.”
“Felix!” you whine as you nudge him hard with your elbow. “Stop calling me out!”
Minho snorts, shaking his head as he pulls up the food delivery app on his phone. “He’s not wrong, though. You’re too polite for your own good. Just let me order you something. You can eat later if you’re not hungry right now.”
Felix grins, clearly enjoying your flustered state. “Trust Min. He’s the responsible one here.”
“Debatable,” you mutter, focusing back on the gash you’re painting on Felix’s cheek.
“Rude,” Minho says with mock offence. “I’m only ordering in because I can’t be bothered to cook. Every time I do, it’s like vultures descend on the kitchen. I make one decent meal, and suddenly it’s a free-for-all.”
“That’s because you’re the best cook in this house,” Felix says matter-of-factly. “No one else even comes close. What did you expect?”
“Not to be treated like a five-star restaurant, that’s for sure,” Minho grumbles, scrolling through the menu.
You try again, your voice quieter this time. “Seriously, though, Minho, you don’t have to-”
“Nope,” Minho interrupts, holding up a hand without even looking at you. “Also, no paying me back. End of story.”
“But-”
“Shhhhh.” He cuts you off again, this time with an exaggerated shushing noise, his tone dripping with amusement. “If you keep arguing, we’re settling this on the football field. First one to score a touchdown wins.”
You give him a flat look. “I’d lose in ten seconds.”
“Exactly,” he says with a smug grin, clicking the order confirmation on his phone.
Felix lets out a loud laugh, nearly knocking the makeup sponge out of your hand. “God, he’s so full of himself. I love it.”
You roll your eyes but can’t help the small smile tugging at your lips. “You’re impossible, both of you.”
“And you love us for it,” Felix says, winking. “Now hurry up with my face so I can take selfies to scare the shit out of people.”
Minho smirks, leaning back against the headboard as the three of you settle into the easy rhythm of banter and laughter. The lighthearted atmosphere helps ease the tight knot of anxiety in your chest, and for a while, it’s just the three of you, surrounded by the comforting chaos of Felix’s room.
Tumblr media
Jisung’s room is a certified disaster zone. Clothes strewn everywhere, half-empty snack bags crumpled on his desk, and a pile of notebooks teetering precariously on the edge of his chair. Despite the chaos, it’s unmistakably Jisung’s space, with posters of indie bands and anime characters covering every inch of the walls.
The air smells faintly of the caramel-scented candle Chan had gifted him a week ago, though it does little to mask the underlying hint of energy drinks.
Jisung sits cross-legged on the bed, bouncing slightly with nervous energy as Sweet Melody blasts from the Bluetooth speaker on the nightstand. He hums along to the chorus, his voice light and airy, but his fingers are picking relentlessly at a loose thread on the corner of the blanket. The thread gets longer with each tug, but he doesn’t seem to notice or care.
Chan, sprawled out on his back next to him, notices. He always notices. His dark eyes flick from Jisung’s hands to his face, taking in the slight furrow of his brow and the way his lips press into a thin line between lyrics.
“I can hear your brain running a million miles a minute,” Chan says finally, his voice soft but laced with curiosity. “What’s up?”
Jisung freezes mid-bounce, the loose thread now wrapped around his finger. He glances at Chan, his silver hair falling into his eyes, and sighs dramatically. “Nothing.”
“Bullshit,” Chan replies without hesitation, sitting up and leaning on one elbow. “You’ve been picking at that blanket for the last five minutes, and you only do that when something’s eating at you. So, spill.”
Jisung hesitates, chewing on his bottom lip. He tugs at the thread one more time before finally blurting out, “How the fuck are we supposed to get close to her if Felix is glued to her side every second she’s here?”
Chan blinks, caught off guard by the sudden outburst, but he doesn’t interrupt. Jisung continues, words spilling out in a rush. “Like, I get it, he’s her brother, her twin, her emotional support whatever-the-fuck, and I respect that, okay? I do. But how are we supposed to make any progress if he’s constantly playing guard dog? I mean, we want her to be the third in our relationship, but we can’t even fucking talk to her.”
There it is. The frustration, the longing, the anxiety. It all comes tumbling out in a messy, unfiltered stream. Jisung runs a hand through his hair, making it stick up in wild angles, and looks at Chan with wide, pleading eyes. “What do we do, Chan? How do we even start?”
Chan leans back against the headboard, crossing his arms over his chest as he considers his words. “If we spoke to her, like, really tried to make our intentions clear, she’d probably have a panic attack.”
Jisung winces, already halfway through forming a rebuttal, but Chan isn’t finished.
“And then you’d have a panic attack for causing her panic attack,” Chan adds, his tone matter-of-fact.
Jisung gasps, clutching his chest dramatically. “Okay, so we’re just dropping truth nukes today? That was a personal fucking attack.”
“Yep.” Chan grins, entirely unbothered. “Because I know you, Ji. You overthink everything when it comes to her. You want to protect her and impress her and somehow confess your feelings all at once, but you freeze up every time she’s in the room.”
Jisung groans, flopping back onto the bed and throwing an arm over his face. “You’re not wrong, but do you have to say it out loud?”
“I do,” Chan says, nudging Jisung’s knee with his own. “Because you need to hear it. She’s not like us. She’s got walls up for a reason, and we can’t bulldoze our way through them just because we want to.”
“So what, then?” Jisung mumbles, his voice muffled by his arm. “We just sit here and pine while Felix keeps giving us death glares every time we so much as look at her?”
Chan chuckles, lying back down beside him. “No, dumbass. We take it slow. Be patient. Show her that we’re not just a couple of horny frat boys looking to make her a notch on our belt.”
“Speak for yourself,” Jisung sighs, letting his head roll to the side as Sweet Melody fades into another song. “Fine. We’ll play the long game. But if Felix cockblocks us one more time, I’m going to scream.”
Chan props himself up on his elbows, watching Jisung fidget with the loose thread again. After a moment, he sits up fully, reaching for his backpack that’s been haphazardly tossed onto the floor. “I did find this,” he says, pulling out a crumpled piece of paper. He smooths it out against his thigh and holds it up for Jisung to see.
“What the fuck is that?” Jisung asks, tilting his head as he squints at the flyer.
“It’s from the cosmetology and SFX department,” Chan explains, his grin widening. “They’re looking for part-time models for the students. Hourly pay, and they feed you.”
Jisung grabs the flyer, scanning the text quickly. His eyes widen as the gears in his head start turning. “You absolute fucking genius, Bang Chan,” he says, smacking Chan’s arm with the paper. “This is why I love you. You’re getting the dick-sucking of your life tonight, and I’ll even do that position you like to fuck me in.”
Chan smirks, leaning back on his hands. “Why not now?”
Jisung rolls his eyes, though his grin is practically glowing. “Because I want to see a peek of her before she leaves. Duh.”
Chan snorts, shaking his head. “You’re such a simp.”
Jisung flops back onto the bed, clutching the flyer dramatically to his chest. “You’re not wrong. I peeked out of my door when she came upstairs with Felix and Minho earlier.”
Chan’s eyebrows shoot up. “Oh, yeah? What’d she look like?”
“She was wearing this cute cropped white sweater, you know, the off-the-shoulder kind? And those mom jeans that make her ass look, like, ugh,” Jisung says, waving his hand like he’s at a loss for words. “Her hair was clipped up all messily, and she had eyeliner so sharp it could cut a bitch.”
Chan groans, rubbing a hand over his face. “Fuck. Wish I’d thought about peeking.”
“You missed out,” Jisung says with a sing-song lilt, flipping onto his stomach to look at Chan. “She looked like an angel. Or a menace. Or both.”
“Definitely both,” Chan agrees with a chuckle.
Jisung holds the flyer up again, studying it as if it holds all the answers to their problems. “This is fucking genius. You’re a genius. We can get close to her, right? Like, we sign up, become her models, and bam! We’re friends! She gets less anxious around us, trusts us, and then bam! She falls in love with us.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Chan says, leaning over to ruffle Jisung’s hair. “And if it doesn’t work, at least we’ll have some cool makeup looks.”
“It’ll work,” Jisung insists, his excitement bubbling over. He giggles, tossing the flyer onto the bed before pouncing on Chan, knocking him back against the pillows. “God, I fucking love you.”
Jisung peppers Chan’s face with kisses, laughing between each one as Chan tries and fails to push him off. Chan’s hands find their way to Jisung’s waist, gripping tightly before sliding down to his ass, squeezing just enough to make Jisung gasp.
“You’re obsessed,” Jisung teases, wiggling his hips in Chan’s hold.
“Can you blame me?” Chan retorts, his fingers tracing over Jisung’s waist like it’s his favourite thing in the world. “You’re fucking perfect.”
“Damn right, I am,” Jisung says, leaning down to kiss him properly this time.
Jisung breaks the kiss with a grin, his forehead pressed against Chan’s. “My genius, sexy boyfriend,” he murmurs, voice dripping with affection as his hands rest on Chan’s chest. Before Chan can reply, the faint creak of a door opening filters through the chaos of Jisung’s room.
Both of them freeze.
“That’s Felix’s room,” Jisung whispers, wide-eyed. He scrambles off Chan in a flurry of movement, almost tripping over a discarded hoodie on the floor as he darts toward the door. Chan follows, his socked feet sliding a little on the hardwood.
They press themselves against the doorframe, carefully peeking through the narrow gap. Sure enough, Felix’s bedroom door is ajar, and you step into the hallway, your makeup case in hand. Felix and Minho trail behind you, chatting to you about something, but neither of them notices the two lurking shadows just down the hall.
Chan’s eyes immediately drop to your figure, taking in the way your jeans hug your curves. His lips part as he lets out a low whistle under his breath. “That ass,” he mutters, barely audible.
Jisung hums in agreement, his gaze just as fixated. “Fucking hell,” he says, practically purring. “Alright, seeing her ass in those jeans has me ready.”
Chan tears his eyes away from you just long enough to glance at Jisung. “Oh, yeah?”
“Yeah,” Jisung says, his grin wicked. “You ready to get your dick sucked?”
“Yes.” Chan’s reply is instant, decisive. Without taking his eyes off you for a moment longer than necessary, he reaches out and kicks the door shut with his foot, the sound reverberating through the room.
Jisung laughs, already grabbing at Chan’s shirt to pull him closer. “God, I fucking love you.”
“Show me,” Chan says, smirking as Jisung shoves him back toward the bed. Whatever comes next is their business, but one thing’s certain: both of them are more determined than ever to turn the object of their admiration into something far more significant.

The classroom is buzzing with energy, chatter bouncing off the walls as students set up their stations for the day. You sit in your usual spot near the back, partially shielded by a tall counter stacked with brushes, pigments, and latex prosthetics.
Your SFX kit is open in front of you, neatly organized but untouched as you twist the anxiety rings on your fingers, trying to drown out the noise. The clipped-up mess of your hair keeps falling in your face, but you don’t have the energy to fix it.
Your teacher strides in, clapping their hands for attention. “Alright, everyone! Models are here. Be respectful, follow the guidelines, and remember to thank them for their time. This is a great opportunity to work with real people instead of mannequins, so make the most of it.”
The door swings open, and a group of about ten models shuffles in, their faces a mix of curiosity and boredom. You glance up, expecting a crowd of strangers. Instead, your breath catches in your throat as two very familiar figures step through the door. Chan and Jisung.
Chan looks effortlessly cool, dressed in black cargo trousers and a white t-shirt under a black knit sweater. His silver chain glints under the fluorescent lights, matching the one around Jisung’s neck.
Jisung, for his part, looks like he just stepped out of a fashion editorial. His cropped grey long-sleeved top shows just a hint of his toned stomach, and his baggy blue jeans hang low enough to reveal his white boxers. His sneakers are pristine, white as snow, and somehow, even in this classroom setting, he looks like he’s having the time of his life.
When they spot you, their faces light up. Jisung waves enthusiastically, practically bouncing on his heels, while Chan offers a more subdued but equally warm wave. You hesitate for a second, the overwhelming urge to disappear into your shell creeping up, but you manage a shy wave back.
Their reaction is immediate. Jisung’s grin widens, and Chan nudges him, clearly amused.
The other students notice them almost instantly, the energy in the room shifting. A few of the girls near the front start whispering, throwing glances at Chan and Jisung. It’s no secret that the two of them are infamous for their openness at parties, and now that they’re in the same room, the attention is palpable.
The teacher finishes their brief introduction and waves the models toward the stations. Almost immediately, a cluster of girls swarms Chan and Jisung, practically vying for their attention. Compliments fly left and right.
“Chan, you’d be perfect for my project.”
“Jisung, I love your skin tone. It’d be amazing to work with.”
“Have you modeled before? You totally look like you have.”
Chan and Jisung, however, seem completely unfazed by the attention. They exchange a look, a silent conversation passing between them, and then, without hesitation, they make a beeline for your station at the back of the room.
“Hello!” Jisung chirps as they reach you, his voice as cheerful as ever. He drops into the chair across from you, resting his chin on his hand.
“Hi,” you reply softly, your fingers still fiddling with your rings.
Chan pulls out the chair next to Jisung and sits down smoothly, his gaze warm but focused. “What a coincidence,” he says, his voice lower and steadier than Jisung’s. “We just wanted some extra cash, and here we are.”
You can’t help the small smile that tugs at your lips. “Well, I’m glad it’s some familiar faces who picked me rather than total strangers,” you say, though the words come out in a rushed tumble. “I mean, I guess you two are strangers with recognizable faces, but, um, still better than total strangers.”
Jisung beams at you, clearly charmed by your rambling. Chan leans forward slightly, resting his forearms on the table. “Yeah? You’re not nervous about working with us?” His tone is teasing, but there’s genuine curiosity behind it.
“No, I-” You stop, realizing you’re about to contradict yourself, and shrug instead. “I’m just glad I won’t have to meet someone completely new. Familiar faces and all that.”
Jisung tilts his head, his silver hair catching the light. “So, how does this work, exactly? What do we do?”
You shrug again, feeling slightly more at ease under their curious but non-judgmental gazes. “It’s pretty simple. I just practice my SFX and different makeup looks on you. You sit still, let me do my thing, and you get paid by the university for your time.”
“That’s it?” Jisung asks, his expression lighting up. “We just get to chill while you turn us into zombies or whatever?”
Chan chuckles, his eyes never leaving your face. “Sounds like the easiest job ever.”
“It’s not as easy as it sounds,” you mumble, already reaching for your brushes. “I can be kind of a perfectionist.”
Jisung nudges Chan with his elbow, his grin widening. “I think we can handle that.”
“Alright,” you say, your voice steadying slightly as you flip through your kit. “I’m going to do bruises for you, Jisung. If that’s okay? It’s the quickest thing to start with, so you can get a feel for what it’s like and how still you’ll have to sit.”
“Okay!” Jisung chirps, his enthusiasm as boundless as ever. He leans forward slightly in his chair, watching you intently.
As you grab the foundation brush and a small compact, your fingers instinctively reach for your anxiety rings, twisting them back and forth in a soothing rhythm. You think you’re being subtle, but both Chan and Jisung notice. They exchange a quick look, just a flicker of understanding passing between them, before Chan leans back in his chair, breaking the tension.
“I’ll grab us some coffee from the table,” Chan says, standing up.
“Oh, don’t,” you reply quickly, looking up from your kit. “It’s gross. Seriously, it's undrinkable.”
Chan raises an eyebrow, amused. “That bad?”
“Worse,” you say, pulling a small coffee sachet from your tote bag and holding it out to him. “Use this. There’s a kettle in the corner.”
Jisung perks up immediately. “Ooh! I love that brand. Their hazelnut flavor is the shit.”
You smile shyly, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear before turning your attention back to your kit. “It’s the only coffee I can actually stand,” you admit, pulling out your bruise palette.
Chan takes the sachet with a small nod. “Got it. Fancy coffee it is,” he says, heading toward the kettle.
As he leaves, Jisung rests his elbows on the table, leaning in just enough to stay in your line of sight. “So, you wanna get into the makeup industry?” he asks, his tone casual but genuinely curious.
You nod, focusing on applying a thin base layer of foundation to his temple. “Yeah. That’s the plan. Mostly SFX, though.”
“That’s cool as fuck,” Jisung says, his lips twitching into a grin. “When I become a famous crime reporter, I’ll hire you to make me look good on camera.”
The corner of your mouth quirks up into a small smile. “I’ll hold you to that.”
“You better,” he teases, his tone light and playful. “And when Chan opens his music production company, you can do his makeup for the promo stuff.”
You glance at him, a faint smile still on your face as you swap the foundation brush for a sponge. “The two of you have nice skin. You don’t really need makeup.”
Jisung smirks, his voice dropping slightly. “We’re a sexy couple, huh?”
Your brush falters for half a second, and you laugh softly, not trusting yourself to respond. Instead, you focus on the bruising, using purples and yellows from your palette to create a realistic-looking contusion on his temple.
Jisung doesn’t push. He sits quietly for a moment, letting you work, but his gaze never leaves your face. He notices the way your shoulders relax as you settle into your craft, your hands moving with practised ease. You’re more comfortable here, surrounded by brushes and palettes, than you ever seemed in the unfamiliar chaos of the frat house.
“You’re really good at this,” he says after a while, his voice softer.
“Thanks,” you murmur, your eyes focused on blending the colours seamlessly into his skin.
The kettle clicks off in the corner, and Chan returns a moment later with three steaming cups of coffee. He sets one down next to you with a small smile before sitting back in his chair, watching you work.
Jisung flashes him a quick grin. “Told you she’s good.”
“Yeah,” Chan agrees, his voice warm. “She’s really good.”
You glance at Chan, tapping the end of your brush against your lip in thought. “How good are you at sitting still?”
Chan smirks, leaning back slightly in his chair. “Much better than him,” he says, jerking his chin toward Jisung.
Jisung nods enthusiastically. “Oh, absolutely. I have the attention span of a squirrel who’s had crack, PCP, and coffee. Sitting still is not in my vocabulary. That was super hard for me.”
You snort, shaking your head as you pull out a small palette and sponge. “I could do scratches or maybe a split lip?”
“Do both,” Chan says. “Whatever you want. We’re here to help you, get free food, and get paid.”
Jisung grins, leaning forward slightly. “Emphasis on the helping you.”
Their casual support makes you smile, a real, unguarded smile, and you turn your attention to Chan, holding up a few shades next to his face to match his skin tone. The colours need to be just right for the scratches to look realistic, and you’re already envisioning the placement.
While you’re focused, Jisung starts poking around in your kit, pulling out sponges and brushes like he’s never seen them before. “What’s this thing for?” he mutters, holding up a stippling sponge.
“Jisung,” Chan says sharply, without even looking at him. “Sit down. Drink your coffee. Be a good boy.”
Jisung snorts, rolling his eyes but obediently sliding back into his chair. “You sound like a dad,” he mutters, taking a sip of his coffee.
Chan doesn’t respond, but the amused glint in his eye says enough.
You let out a soft laugh, shaking your head as you position Chan’s face just right, tilting his chin slightly so you can work. Starting with the scratches, you dab the base colour along his cheekbone in thin, jagged lines, layering the colours to create depth. The focus required for the details blocks out the noise of the room, narrowing your world to just the colours, textures, and angles.
Chan stays perfectly still, his gaze never leaving your face. Every so often, his eyes flick to your fingers, watching the way they move with such precision. He notices the way you fiddle with your anxiety rings between steps, your thumb brushing over the grooves as if grounding yourself. It’s subtle, but he catches it every time.
Jisung leans closer, resting his chin in his hand as he watches too. He doesn’t say much, which is rare for him, but he’s captivated by how your concentration transforms you. You’re not the shy, anxious girl who fidgets in uncomfortable spaces here. You’re in your element, confident, steady, and focused. Your smiles, when they appear, are genuine, and they feel like small victories to him and Chan both.
“Does this hurt?” Jisung asks suddenly, his voice breaking the quiet.
You blink, looking up from the scratches you’re blending on Chan’s cheek. “What? No, of course not. It’s just makeup.”
“Yeah, but you’re so good it’s making me feel phantom pain,” he says dramatically, and you chuckle softly, shaking your head.
“Sit still and let her work,” Chan says, his tone teasing.
“I’m literally not moving!” Jisung retorts, throwing his hands up.
You roll your eyes but smile as you switch to the split lip. Using a small detailing brush, you draw the initial line across Chan’s lower lip, smudging the edges for realism. You add layers of reds and purples, blending them seamlessly into his skin until the injury looks raw and freshly split.
The room fades away entirely as you work, your focus narrowing to the details of Chan’s face. You don’t notice the way he and Jisung exchange glances, silently communicating as they take note of your little habits, the shifty glance you throw at your rings when the noise gets too loud, the way your shoulders tense and relax in rhythm with your breathing.
They’re careful not to draw attention to it, subtly keeping the energy around you calm and light without you even realizing it.
When the scratches and bruising are complete, you step back, studying your work critically. You add a faint smudge of purple and green around the edges of the scratches, giving them the illusion of swelling, before finally reaching for the mirror.
“Alright,” you say, holding the mirror up for Chan. “What do you think?”
Chan leans in to look, his eyes widening slightly at the realism. “Holy shit,” he murmurs, turning his head from side to side. “This looks incredible.”
“Seriously,” Jisung chimes in, craning his neck to see. “It looks like someone decked you. This is insane.”
You feel a flicker of pride at their reactions, your lips curving into a small smile. “Thanks,” you say quietly, fiddling with your rings again.
“Can’t believe we get paid for this,” Chan says with a grin. “Best gig ever.”
Jisung nods enthusiastically. “We should’ve signed up for this ages ago.”
You laugh softly, your nerves starting to melt away as the three of you fall into an easy rhythm of conversation and quiet admiration.

The room buzzes with its usual energy, students chatting and setting up their kits, but Chan and Jisung sit off to the side, waiting. Jisung taps his boots against the floor rhythmically, glancing toward the door every few seconds. He adjusts the cuffs of his cropped leather jacket, his black vest underneath snug against his torso.
Chan sits next to him, leaning back in his chair, one leg bouncing slightly. His matching leather jacket and vest combo, paired with the loose baggy jeans, gives him an effortless edge, but his eyes flick toward the door just as often as Jisung’s.
“She’s late,” Jisung mutters, chewing on his bottom lip.
“Maybe she got held up,” Chan offers, though his voice carries the same undercurrent of unease.
When the door finally opens, you step inside, your movements stiff and your hands trembling slightly as they clutch your tote bag and makeup kit. You’re dressed in a blue and white tartan mini skirt with a matching cropped blazer, your makeup immaculate despite the visible tension in your posture. The messy clip holding your hair back looks like it’s hanging on by sheer determination.
Jisung immediately notices the trembling. His eyes widen, and he nudges Chan, who follows his gaze. Recognition flashes across Chan’s face, he’s seen this before, too many times with Jisung.
Jisung jumps up first, his wide smile doing little to mask the concern in his eyes. “Hey!” he calls out, his voice bright and warm, though there’s a softness to it meant just for you. He strides over quickly, motioning for you to follow him. “Come on. Let’s go to the other room for a sec. It’s quieter there.”
Chan is already beside you, taking the tote bag and your makeup case from your trembling hands without a word. “Let’s go,” he says gently, his presence steady and grounding as he gestures toward the hallway.
You nod numbly, letting Jisung lead the way. His cropped leather jacket bounces slightly with each step, and you focus on the rhythm of his boots against the floor, using it to anchor yourself.
Once inside the empty classroom, Jisung pulls out a chair and motions for you to sit. Chan places your bags down carefully on the table, then leans against it, his arms crossed but his expression soft.
Jisung crouches in front of you, his voice light and cheerful despite the tension in the room. “You know what I need right now?” he asks, tilting his head.
You blink at him, your breathing still uneven. “What?”
“Embarrassing childhood stories about Felix,” he says, his grin widening. “Come on, you’ve gotta have loads of them. Spill.”
You let out a shaky laugh, your fingers gripping the edge of the chair. “I- I do, but...”
“But nothing,” Chan interrupts, his tone playful but firm. “Give us the dirt. I’m talking full-on Felix humiliation. We need it.”
Jisung pulls something out of his pocket and holds it out to you. A small fidget cube. “Here. This always helps me. Try it.”
Your hands shake as you take the cube, turning it over in your fingers. The clicking and spinning mechanisms give you something to focus on, and you start to feel a faint sense of control creeping back in.
“There has to be something,” Chan says, his tone encouraging as Jisung moves to sit next to you, running a hand gently up and down your back. “Don’t hold out on us.”
You take a deep breath, the fidget cube helping to steady you as you begin. “Okay, um, there was this one time when Felix was sixteen. He had a massive crush on this guy, like, total heart eyes every time he saw him.”
Jisung hums, clearly intrigued. “Go on.”
“So,” you continue, a small smile creeping onto your face, “Felix heard that this guy loved birds. Like, absolutely obsessed with them. So Felix, in his infinite wisdom, decided he was going to catch a dove and give it to him.”
Both Chan and Jisung burst into laughter, but they don’t interrupt. They let you continue, their attention fully on you.
“He spent hours in the park with a net he bought from a fishing store,” you say, your voice growing steadier as the memory takes over. “And when he finally caught one, he brought it home, named it Cupid, and tried to teach it tricks to impress the guy.”
Jisung is practically wheezing at this point. “No fucking way.”
“I swear to God,” you say, a genuine laugh escaping you. “He even bought birdseed that was, like, premium grade or whatever because he thought it would make the dove healthier and shinier.”
Chan shakes his head, his own laugh rumbling low in his chest. “And did it work? Did the guy fall for him?”
“Nope,” you say, giggling. “The guy was allergic to birds.”
Jisung collapses against the back of his chair, clutching his stomach as he laughs. “That’s fucking priceless. Felix trying to be Mr. Romantic and failing spectacularly. I love it.”
Chan grins, his eyes softening as he watches you laugh. “See? That’s exactly the kind of story we needed.”
You fiddle with the fidget cube again, but your breathing is steady now, the tension in your shoulders easing. Jisung nudges you lightly with his elbow, his grin still wide. “Feel a bit better?”
“Yeah,” you admit, glancing between them. “Thanks.”
Chan straightens up, offering you a hand. “Anytime. Now, let’s get back before someone claims your station.”
You take his hand, letting him pull you up, and for the first time that day, you feel like the world isn’t spinning quite so fast.
Tumblr media
Chan and Jisung step inside the classroom, hand in hand as Jisung grins at whatever Chan whispers in his ear. Chan’s black cargos and fitted compression shirt make him look every bit the confident leader he is, his silver chain glinting under the fluorescent lights.
Jisung, in his black trousers and the striking red-and-black watercolour-style top, walks with a similar self-assurance, the chain around his neck catching the same light. They’re already the centre of attention without even trying, but their eyes immediately scan the room for one person. You.
You’re at your usual station, sitting on a chair, but something’s off. Your shoulders are hunched, practically touching your ears as you try to shrink into yourself. Two girls are standing in front of you, leaning in far too close, their voices carrying just enough for Chan and Jisung to catch snippets of what they’re saying.
“Come on,” one of them purrs. “You know them, right? Set us up, just for one night. That’s all we’re asking.”
“They’re into sharing,” the other adds, her tone smug. “Everyone knows it. It’s not like they’d say no.”
You’re gripping the edge of your chair tightly, your knuckles turning white as you avoid eye contact. The tension radiates off you, your lips pressed into a thin line. Your green cargo trousers and white sleeveless turtleneck are immaculate, your hair clipped up messily but beautifully, and your makeup flawless as always, but the way you’re folding into yourself tells them everything they need to know.
Chan’s jaw tightens, and Jisung’s grip on his hand briefly tightens before he lets go, stepping forward. “Oi,” Chan snaps, his voice sharp enough to cut through the chatter in the room. “Leave her alone.”
Both girls turn, startled but not deterred. Their faces light up when they see Chan and Jisung approaching, and they immediately shift gears, their tones turning flirtatious.
“Oh, hey, guys,” the first girl says, batting her eyelashes. “We were just talking about you.”
“Yeah,” the second girl chimes in, smiling coyly. “We’ve been dying to get to know you better.”
Jisung rolls his eyes so hard it’s a wonder they don’t get stuck. “Both of you, piss off,” he says flatly, his voice dripping with irritation.
The girls falter for a moment but recover quickly, leaning into their usual tactics. “Don’t be like that,” the first girl says, pouting. “We know you like adding a girl to your relationship. It’s your thing, right?”
The second girl glances toward you, who’s practically curled into yourself at this point. “You two seriously can’t be considering her,” she says, gesturing toward you with a sneer. “I mean, come on.”
Chan’s glare is immediate and lethal. His dark eyes narrow, and his jaw clenches as he takes a threatening step forward. “Watch your mouth,” he says, his voice low and dangerous.
Jisung scoffs, turning his full attention to the girls. “What? You think we’d go for you? Don’t make me fucking laugh.”
The girls’ confidence wavers under the combined weight of their disdain, but they don’t leave right away. Jisung doesn’t wait for them to figure it out. He turns back to you, his expression softening as he crouches slightly to meet your eyes. “Fuck this noise,” he says gently. “You wanna come with us to grab coffee?”
You glance up at him, your hands still trembling slightly, and nod, your relief visible even through your lingering anxiety.
“Good,” Jisung says, standing up. He grabs your tote bag without hesitation while Chan picks up your makeup kit.
As they turn to leave, both of them shoot the girls looks that could kill. “Stay the fuck away from her,” Chan warns, his voice quiet but ice-cold.
Jisung doesn’t bother saying anything else, but the sharp glare he throws over his shoulder speaks volumes. Together, they guide you out of the classroom, their presence on either side of you making you feel safer with every step. The noise and tension of the room fade behind you as the door swings shut.
Once you’re in the hallway, Jisung flashes you a small, reassuring smile. “Let’s go get something sweet”
Chan nods, his expression softening now that you’re away from the chaos. “You’re with us. Don’t worry about anything else.”

The campus café is quiet at this time of day, a soft hum of conversation blending with the low buzz of the espresso machines. Chan leads the way to a corner table in the back, where it’s more secluded. He sets your makeup case down on the floor beside the table as Jisung pulls out a chair for you before plopping into one himself.
“What do you want to drink?” Chan asks, his voice steady and calm as he takes the seat opposite you.
You shake your head quickly, fiddling with the edge of your sleeve. “I’m fine, really.”
Jisung raises an eyebrow, leaning forward on his elbows. “Nope! Anxiety will not let you dehydrate on my watch,” he declares, his tone light but firm. “How about this, you can pay for the coffee next time. Sound good?”
You hesitate, glancing between them, but their expressions are so genuine, so patient, that you finally nod. “Okay. An iced caramel mocha, please.”
“Good choice,” Jisung says with a grin, leaning back in his chair.
As Chan heads toward the counter to order, Jisung places your tote bag on the table, his eyes lighting up when he notices the corner of a sketchbook sticking out. “You have a sketchbook?” he asks, already tugging it free.
“Yeah,” you reply, feeling a little self-conscious but smiling faintly. “If cosmetology and SFX don’t work out, tattooing is the backup plan.”
Jisung’s face lights up like it’s Christmas morning. “Can I peek?” he asks, his voice practically buzzing with excitement.
You nod, and he immediately cracks it open, flipping through the pages with wide eyes. “Ooh, I want that one,” he says, pointing to a minimalist snake design winding around a crescent moon. “And that one.” He gestures to a geometric wolf. “Oh, absolutely that one.” His finger lands on an intricate floral skull.
You can’t help but laugh softly. “If you like them so much, pencil your name next to the ones you want.”
“Done,” Jisung says, digging into your tote bag for a pencil. Instead of a pencil, his hand brushes against a box of tattoo pens, and he pulls it out, eyes sparkling. “Oooh! Can I have one now?”
“Sure,” you say, sliding the box toward him. “Pick a colour.”
Jisung immediately grabs a black pen and places it in your hand instead. “Draw something cool on me.”
There’s a smile on your lips as you grab his hand. His fingers twitch slightly as you adjust his position, your own hand steady as you start outlining a skeletal hand on the back of his. The pen glides smoothly over his skin, and you fall into your rhythm, focusing on each careful line.
Jisung watches you intently, his eyes darting between your concentrated expression and the design appearing on his hand. “This is so fucking cool,” he murmurs, tilting his head to watch you work. “Seriously, how are you this good?”
You shrug, not looking up. “Practice.”
By the time Chan returns with the drinks, Jisung’s hand already resembles a realistic skeleton hand in progress. Chan places your iced caramel mocha in front of you before sitting down with his own coffee. His gaze falls on Jisung’s hand, and his eyebrows raise slightly. “What’s this?”
“She’s giving me the coolest skeleton hand tattoo,” Jisung says proudly, holding his hand up briefly before letting you continue. “It’s semi-permanent. How long will it last?” he asks, glancing at you.
“About two weeks,” you reply, still focused on adding shading to the bones. “If you’re careful.”
“Careful?” Jisung scoffs. “Have you met me?”
Chan chuckles, leaning back in his chair to watch you work. “Guess we’ll see how long it survives. It’s a good look for you, though.”
Jisung grins, wiggling his fingers slightly, earning a small scolding from you as you steady his hand again. “I feel like a badass already.”
“You already are,” Chan says with a smirk, taking a sip of his coffee.
You finish the final details on Jisung’s skeleton hand, stepping back to admire your work. The clean black lines trace over his skin perfectly, each bone detailed with just enough shading to make it look almost real. “There,” you say, setting the pen down for a moment. “Done.”
Jisung twists his hand to get a better look, his grin widening. “Holy shit, this is incredible. You’re a fucking magician.”
“You’re being dramatic,” you reply with a faint smile, wiping your hands on a napkin.
“No, seriously. It’s so good!” Jisung glances at you, his grin turning sly. “So, can I have another?”
You arch an eyebrow but grab the pen again, motioning for him to roll up his sleeve. “What do you want this time?”
He taps his chin, pretending to think. “How about a sword? With a snake wrapped around it. Make it badass.”
“Got it,” you say, leaning over to begin sketching on his forearm. The pen glides smoothly over his skin as you map out the shape of the blade, the hilt, and the curling snake.
As you work, Jisung leans back slightly, looking over at Chan with a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Hey, Chan. Baby. Sexy man.”
Chan gives him a flat look. “What.”
“How do you feel about Jisung’s bitch on your forehead with the tattoo pen?”
“No.”
Jisung pouts dramatically. “No hesitation? Not even a little consideration?”
“Not even a little,” Chan replies, sipping his coffee calmly.
You shake your head, biting back a smile as you continue detailing the snake coiling around the sword. The tip of the blade points toward Jisungs wrist, and the snake’s head curves menacingly near the hilt, its fangs bared.
“Could we count this as a date?” Jisung asks suddenly, his voice casual but his grin anything but.
Your hand falters slightly, and you cough, your head snapping up to look at him. Before you can respond, Chan kicks him under the table, the dull thud making Jisung wince.
“Kidding! Kidding!” Jisung says quickly, throwing up his free hand in surrender. “Totally joking.”
You narrow your eyes slightly but don’t say anything, your focus snapping back to his arm as you continue detailing the snake’s scales with delicate precision.
While your attention is on the drawing, Chan leans forward slightly, his eyes narrowing at Jisung and he mouths, What are you doing?
Jisung shrugs dramatically, mouthing back, What?! It was worth a shot!
Chan rolls his eyes and mouths, Idiot.
Jisung grins, leaning closer to mouth back, At least now she might realise we’re interested.
Chan glares, his lips pressing into a tight line, but he doesn’t argue. Instead, he leans back in his chair, his gaze softening as he watches you work.
You finish detailing the snake’s body, adding a hint of depth to its scales, before leaning back to examine your work. “Done,” you say. “What do you think?”
Jisung lifts his arm, turning it this way and that to admire the sword-and-snake design. His grin stretches from ear to ear. “It’s fucking perfect. You’re a genius.”
Chan nods in agreement, his voice warm. “It looks incredible.”
You glance between them, your cheeks warming slightly at their praise. “Thanks.”
As Jisung continues marvelling at his arm, you finally allow yourself a small smile, feeling a strange but welcome sense of ease in their company.

The Alpha Phi frat house is quieter than usual, a rare lull in the usual chaos. You make your way up the stairs, your sneakers squeaking faintly against the worn wood. Felix is at a culinary practical class, which means you have a golden window of opportunity to talk to Minho without your overprotective twin hovering nearby.
Reaching Minho’s room, you hesitate for a second before knocking twice and pushing the door open. The familiar scent of his room, clean laundry mixed with a faint hint of cologne, greets you as you step inside.
“Hey there, anxiety bundle,” Minho greets from his bed, where he’s lying with his phone in hand, scrolling lazily. He glances up, a small smirk playing on his lips.
You can’t help but grin, hopping onto the bed beside him. “Hi, Min.”
He sets his phone down, propping himself up on one elbow to look at you more closely. “So, what’s up? You look like you’ve got something on your mind.”
You take a deep breath, fiddling with the hem of your cropped turtleneck. “I wanted to talk to you about Chan and Jisung.”
Minho raises an eyebrow, his smirk widening slightly. “Chan and Jisung, huh? Have you ever even spoken to them?”
You bite your lip, nodding. “Yeah, they’re, uh, my models for my cosmetology and SFX extra credit stuff.”
“Interesting,” Minho says, his tone light but curious. He leans back against his pillows, giving you his full attention. “Go on.”
“They’re actually super cool to hang out with,” you admit, your voice softening as you pick at an invisible thread on the blanket. “But, we went to a café a couple of days ago, and Jisung asked if it was a date.”
Minho’s other eyebrow joins the first, his expression shifting to something more knowing. “You can’t tell they’re both into you?”
You blink at him, caught completely off guard. “Huh?”
Minho rolls his eyes, sitting up fully. “Come on, everyone in the frat but Lix knows. They’re not subtle. They like you and want you as a third in their relationship. A little polyamorous trio.”
You freeze, the words sinking in like a stone dropping into a still pond. “No. No way. No, I can’t- Nope. Nuh-uh. I am not relationship material. Nope. No way.”
Minho stares at you for a moment before letting out a low chuckle. “Okay, no breakdowns here. Deep breaths. You’re spiralling.”
“I’m not spiralling,” you protest weakly, even as your chest tightens.
“Right.” Minho reaches for the edge of his blanket, a mischievous gleam in his eyes. “Here’s what we’re gonna do. I’m going to blanket burrito you and then cuddle you until your stresses flow out of you. Arms free, of course, so you don’t feel too restricted.”
Before you can argue, he’s already wrapping the blanket around your shoulders, tucking it securely but leaving your arms free just as he promised. “There we go,” he says, satisfied with his work. “Comfy?”
You hum softly, leaning into his side as he pulls you closer. “Yeah. Surprisingly.”
Minho shifts slightly, adjusting the blanket around you as he tucks you closer into his side. His warmth seeps into you, and for the first time today, the tension in your shoulders starts to ease.
“So,” Minho begins, his tone light but teasing, “what do you wanna talk about? We cannot under any circumstances talk about black-haired football captains and silver-haired journalism students who wanna fuck you in what could possibly be the hottest threesome and three-way relationship to walk the earth. Anything but that horror, which I am wildly jealous of but we can’t discuss because you’re in an anxiety burrito.”
“Shut up!” you exclaim, smacking his arm lightly, though you can’t help the small laugh that escapes.
Minho gasps dramatically. “Excuse me. Everything I say is a blessing. Don’t silence the gospel.”
You roll your eyes, relaxing further against him. “Fine. Let’s talk about you and Lix. What’s going on there?”
Minho groans, tilting his head back against the headboard. “We’re, like, together. Without the labels.”
“Loser,” you mutter, smirking as you nudge his side.
His head snaps back down, and he glares at you playfully. “Listen here, brat. It’s your brother’s fault, alright? One minute he’s all over me, sucking my dick like it’s the cure to cancer, and the next, he’s chatting up and fucking every Theta Tau asshole who so much as glances in his direction.”
You grimace but can’t stop yourself from laughing. “Oh my God, Minho.”
“It’s true!” Minho insists, throwing up his hands. “Do you know how fucking confusing that is?”
You sit up slightly, resting your chin on your hand as you consider him. “Have you ever considered that Felix wants you to make the move?”
Minho pauses, his brow furrowing. “Huh. No. No, I did not. That actually makes sense.”
“You’re welcome,” you say with a smug smile. “I give sound relationship advice. Can’t follow it myself, but hey, it’s called anxiety.”
Minho snorts, ruffling your hair affectionately. “Fucking nerd. Alright, Yoda, explain this wisdom to me.”
“It’s simple,” you say, leaning back against him. “Felix probably doesn’t want to make things official because he’s scared of messing it up. He’s waiting for you to say something.”
Minho hums thoughtfully, his arm tightening slightly around your shoulders. “Okay. Fair point. I’ll think about it.”
There’s a beat of silence before Minho glances down at you, his smirk creeping back onto his face. “Now, back to you.”
“Nope,” you say quickly, shaking your head. “We’re done talking about me.”
“Look,” Minho begins, ignoring you completely. “You’re hot. Chan’s hot. Jisung’s hot. And those two have got it bad for you, sweetcheeks. I’m talking down horrendously bad. Me mooning over your brother? Nothing on those two.”
You groan, pulling the blanket tighter around yourself. “Minho, stop.”
“Not a chance,” he says, his voice growing more serious. “You think you’re not relationship material, but I’ve seen the way they look at you. They’d bend over backwards to make you happy. You deserve that. You really do.”
You don’t respond, your fingers absently twisting the blanket’s edge. Minho doesn’t push further, letting his words sink in as he pulls you closer to his side, his presence steady and comforting.
“Anyway,” Minho says after a moment, his teasing tone returning, “I’m pretty sure Felix and I are the blueprint for dysfunctional relationships, so if I can make it work, you’ve got no excuse.”
You laugh softly, shaking your head. “You’re impossible.”
“And you love me for it,” he replies, grinning. For now, the weight of his words lingers, but it feels less like a burden and more like a possibility you can slowly start to consider.

The classroom hums with the usual pre-class energy. Students chatting, tools clinking against palettes, and brushes being sorted. Chan and Jisung are already seated at your station when you walk in, your steps hesitant. You’re dressed in green cargo trousers, black Converse, and a black cropped turtleneck, your hair messily clipped up as always. Your makeup is, as usual, flawless, the sharpness of your eyeliner contrasting starkly with the apprehension in your eyes.
But today, something’s off.
Chan notices it first. You don’t greet them like usual, instead setting your tote bag and kit on the table with trembling hands. Jisung picks up on it seconds later when you don’t return his grin or meet his gaze. You sit down silently, immediately busying yourself with unpacking your materials, your movements stiff and hurried.
“Hey,” Jisung says softly, leaning forward slightly. “You good?”
You don’t answer, pretending to focus on your brushes as if they’re suddenly the most interesting thing in the world. Your fingers fumble as you arrange them, the clinking sound drawing Chan’s attention. He exchanges a quick glance with Jisung, his brow furrowing.
“Y/N,” Chan tries, his tone low and gentle. “What’s going on?”
Still, you don’t respond. Instead, you grab your palette and turn to Jisung, gesturing for his arm. “I’m starting with the scarring,” you mumble, your voice so soft they almost miss it.
Jisung hesitates but holds out his arm, watching as you grab a brush and start applying a base layer. Your focus is razor-sharp, but something about the way your hands move feels mechanical, like you’re running on autopilot. You won’t look at him, your gaze glued to your work.
Jisung glances at Chan again, his worry evident. “Okay,” he says cautiously, trying to keep the mood light. “Guess we’re skipping the chit-chat today.”
No reaction.
As you work on creating realistic scarring up his forearm, Jisung tries again. “You know, I was thinking, maybe I should start a petition for you to do our makeup at frat parties. You’d probably get us a shit ton of attention.”
Still nothing. You don’t even crack a smile, your brush moving methodically as you blend shades of red and brown into his skin. The silence stretches, heavy and uncomfortable.
Chan leans back in his chair, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the table as he studies you. He doesn’t say anything, but his dark eyes flicker with concern, his lips pressed into a thin line.
When you finish Jisung’s arm, you finally glance up, just to grab another tool, before quickly averting your gaze again. “Switching to facial injuries,” you mumble, turning toward Chan without waiting for a response.
Chan shifts in his chair slightly, his posture relaxing as he nods. “Go ahead.”
You step closer, your movements still stiff as you start creating a gash on his cheekbone. Your hands remain steady, but your avoidance is glaringly obvious. You don’t meet his eyes, even when you have to angle his face toward the light. Instead, you keep your focus strictly on your work, avoiding any interaction.
Jisung leans his chin on his hand, watching you carefully. “You know, we’re here, right?” he says softly, his usual playful tone replaced with genuine concern.
Your hand falters slightly, but you quickly recover, your expression unreadable. “I know,” you mutter, still not looking at either of them.
Chan tilts his head as you add depth to the injury, his voice low and steady. “You don’t have to say what’s bothering you if you’re not ready. But you can. We’re not going anywhere.”
Your hands are trembling so violently now that you can barely hold the brush. The classroom feels too loud, too bright, too crowded, like the walls are closing in around you. The edges of your vision blur as you inhale sharply, your breaths coming too fast and too shallow.
“I- Excuse me,” you manage to choke out, your voice trembling as much as your hands.
Without waiting for a response, you push back from the table, nearly knocking over your chair in your haste to leave. You don’t even think to grab your tote bag or kit as you rush out the door, the classroom’s noise fading into an overwhelming silence.
Chan and Jisung are on their feet immediately, exchanging a single, knowing look. They don’t need to speak to understand what’s happening. Jisung recognizes the signs, he’s been there too many times himself, and Chan has seen this far too often when helping Jisung through his panic attacks.
“We’re going after her,” Jisung says, already heading for the door.
Chan nods as he follows. “Of course.”
They move quickly through the hallway, scanning for any sign of you. It doesn’t take long for Jisung to notice the slightly ajar door to the empty classroom they’d taken you to before. He pushes it open gently, the hinges creaking faintly, and the sight inside makes both of them freeze.
You’re crouched down near the far wall, your head in your hands as you tug on your hair with trembling fingers. Your whole body is trembling, and your breaths come in short, ragged gasps that hitch and catch painfully in your throat. It’s clear you’re spiralling fast.
Jisung and Chan exchange another glance, unspoken understanding passing between them. Chan steps forward first, closing the door quietly behind them while Jisung pulls the blinds down to block out the outside world. They’re careful, their movements measured and deliberate, as if any sudden motion might make things worse.
Jisung crouches down in front of you, his voice soft but steady. “Hey, what do you need? I know it’s hard to answer right now, but I’ve been here before. For me, a hug helps, a tight one. It compresses my nervous system and calms me down. You’ll fight it at first, but it’s just me and Chan. You’re safe with us, okay?”
You nod faintly, your fingers twitching as you try to loosen your grip on your hair. Your breaths are still shallow, but you’re trying, and Jisung can see it in the way your shoulders rise and fall unevenly.
“Good,” Jisung says gently, shifting to sit behind you. He carefully takes your hands, pulling them away from your hair and holding them in his own for a moment before guiding your body to rest against his. “I’m gonna hug you now, alright? Just let me help.”
He wraps his arms tightly around your chest, holding you firmly but not uncomfortably, his chin resting lightly against the top of your head. “Just me,” he whispers. “I’ve got you.”
Chan crouches in front of you, his eyes soft with concern. “My turn,” he says quietly, leaning in to wrap his arms around both you and Jisung, enveloping you in a warm, grounding embrace. You’re sandwiched between them, their bodies a protective barrier against the storm raging inside you.
“Just breathe,” Chan murmurs, his voice low and soothing. “We’re here. You’re safe.”
Jisung presses his cheek against the back of your head, his voice equally calm. “Deep breaths. In through your nose, out through your mouth. Slow and steady.”
It’s hard. Your chest feels tight, and the panic claws at you, but their warmth and steady presence start to chip away at the edges of the fear. Jisung’s hold is grounding, his arms firm and secure, while Chan’s presence in front of you feels like a shield against the world.
“You’re doing so good,” Jisung says softly, his fingers lightly brushing against your forearms. “Just keep going. We’ve got you.”
Chan’s hands rub gentle circles on your back, his movements synchronized with Jisung’s reassurances. “That’s it. Keep going. One breath at a time.”
Slowly, the tension in your body begins to ease. Your breaths become a little less ragged, a little more controlled. The trembling subsides bit by bit, though your body still feels exhausted from the panic.
“You’re okay,” Jisung whispers, his voice soft as he rests his forehead against the back of your head. “You’re safe. We’ve got you.”
Chan pulls back slightly to meet your eyes, his hands still resting gently on your shoulders. “Better?” he asks, his voice warm and patient.
You nod weakly, your voice barely above a whisper. “Yeah. Thank you.”
Jisung presses a light, reassuring kiss to the top of your head before helping you sit up straighter. “No need to thank us. We’re here for you. Always.”
“Want to talk about why you’re an anxious bundle of nerves today?” Chan asks gently, his eyes locked on yours. There’s no judgment in his tone, just patience and concern.
You hesitate for a moment, chewing on your bottom lip, but the warmth of their presence gives you enough courage to speak. Once you start, though, the words spill out in a frantic, barely coherent rush.
“It’s—it’s Minho,” you stammer, your voice shaky and fast. “He said you two like me, and not just like me, like like me like me, and then he said something about polyamory and a three-way relationship, and I-look, I can’t do that. I don’t want to come between you two, you’re perfect together, and I don’t even know how to be in a regular relationship, let alone something like that! I mean, I’m definitely not relationship material. I overthink everything-”
“Wait, wait, slow down,” Chan says, his lips twitching in an effort to suppress a smile as he tries to keep up with your rapid-fire rambling.
Jisung giggles, resting his chin on your shoulder. “Silly girl,” he says, his tone playful and affectionate. “You wouldn’t be coming between us. There’d be three of us in the relationship. That’s kind of the point.”
You pause, your brain short-circuiting at the simplicity of his words. “I… what?”
Jisung squeezes you tighter, his grin widening. “Three of us. Not you versus me or Chan. All of us together. Team effort.”
“Exactly,” Chan chimes in, his voice steady and calm. He leans in slightly, his dark eyes warm as they meet yours. “Tell you what. Jisung and I will take you on one date. Just one. No pressure, no expectations. If you decide polyamory isn’t for you, we’ll stay just friends. No hard feelings.”
You blink at them, your heart racing as you try to process everything. “One date?” you echo, your voice almost disbelieving.
“One date,” Chan confirms, his lips curving into a soft smile. “Just to see how it feels. No strings attached.”
Jisung nods eagerly. “And if it’s not your thing, that’s fine. We still get to hang out with you and be your friends, which is already pretty fucking great.”
You look between them, the sincerity in their expressions making your chest tighten in a way that’s equal parts terrifying and comforting. Finally, you nod, the tension in your shoulders easing just slightly. “Okay. One date.”
Jisung cheers softly, his arms tightening around you. “Yes! I’m calling this a win.”
Chan chuckles, resting a hand on Jisung’s back as he looks at you. “Thank you for trusting us.”
As you sit there, sandwiched between them, the panic that had consumed you earlier feels like it’s beginning to fade, replaced by a tentative sense of hope. Maybe, just maybe, this could work.

The low rumble of a sleek black convertible echoes through the quiet street as Chan pulls up outside your apartment building, the hood already down. The car gleams under the dim glow of the streetlights, a perfect reflection of its owner’s effortless confidence. Jisung sits in the backseat, his cropped leather blazer catching the light as he leans against the side of the car, a casual grin on his face.
Chan, in black trousers and boots with a white half-buttoned shirt over a black turtleneck, rests one arm on the steering wheel as he glances up at your building. He checks the time briefly before looking at Jisung. “You think Minho’s keeping Felix distracted long enough?”
Jisung snickers, adjusting his silver chain. “Please. If anyone can manage Felix, it’s Minho. The man dragged him to a love hotel. They’re probably too busy fucking to even think about anything else right now.”
The sound of the building’s front door opening pulls both their attention, and their conversation stops. You step outside, your beige flares swishing slightly with each step, white sneakers bright against the pavement. Your white bandeau crop top hugs your figure, and your half-up, half-down hair style gives you a polished but relaxed look, the little bun at the back bouncing slightly as you walk.
Jisung’s grin widens as he scrambles out of the backseat and around to the sidewalk, opening the door for you with a dramatic bow. “Your chariot awaits, milady.”
“Thank you, kind sir,” you reply with a teasing smile, sliding into the backseat next to him. Your movements are smooth, but there’s a flicker of nervous energy in your hands as you buckle in.
Chan glances over his shoulder, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. “You like fast driving?”
You nod, settling into your seat. “Yeah, why not?”
Chan doesn’t need any more encouragement. He slams his foot on the gas, and the car roars to life, speeding down the street. The wind whips through your hair, and your laughter spills out, unrestrained and genuine. You throw your hands up, tipping your head back as the city lights blur into streaks of colour.
Jisung wraps an arm around your shoulders, his touch light enough to give you space to pull away if you want. Instead, you lean into him, your laughter bubbling over as the wind rushes past. Chan watches the two of you through the rearview mirror, a soft smile tugging at his lips as he navigates the empty streets with ease.
“Disclaimer,” you say between giggles, “I had an edible brownie to help my anxiety, so I’m kind of stoned right now.”
Jisung’s eyes widen with delight. “Oh my God. When I thought you couldn’t get any hotter.” He nudges Chan with his free hand. “She’s one of us, Chan! A stoner!”
Chan snorts, his eyes flicking to the mirror again. “I’m sober, don’t worry. I wouldn’t drive stoned.”
“Obviously,” Jisung says, grinning. “I had a joint earlier, though, so we’re vibing, Y/N. You and me? Stoner solidarity.”
You laugh, shaking your head. “Good to know I’m in good company.”
Chan hums thoughtfully. “I will steal one of those brownies later, though, if you’re offering.”
“Sure,” you say easily, your gaze softening. “I’ve seen your place already. You can come over and meet my dog. He’s a golden retriever. His name’s Simba.”
“Dream woman,” Chan says, his voice warm and genuine. “Dog lover, brownie maker, and she likes fast cars. What’s not to love?”
You laugh again, feeling the edges of your nerves melt away in the company of their easy banter. The car speeds forward into the night, the three of you riding the high of the moment, figuratively and, in your case, literally. It feels like freedom, like something new and exciting, and for once, you’re more eager than anxious about what comes next.

The sleek black convertible pulls up to the brightly lit bowling alley, its neon sign casting a kaleidoscope of colours on the pavement. Jisung hops out first, his black trousers swishing as he moves, and he offers you a hand with a playful grin, and you take it, sliding out of the car.
Before you can step away, Jisung wraps an arm around your waist, his fingers brushing lightly against the fabric of your beige flares. “You ready for this?” he asks, his tone warm and teasing.
You glance at him, your nerves bubbling up again, but before you can respond, you feel Chan’s gaze on you. His dark eyes are soft but questioning, waiting for permission. You nod shyly, and he steps closer, draping his arm over your shoulders with a casual ease that makes your heart skip a beat.
“Now we’re ready,” Chan says with a small smirk, steering you toward the entrance as Jisung keeps his arm snugly around your waist.
The trio walks through the glass doors, greeted by the bustling atmosphere of the bowling alley. The place smells like popcorn and pizza, and the sound of bowling balls crashing into pins echoes around you. Chan leads the way to the counter, where a guy in a red-and-white uniform greets him with a friendly smile.
“Got a booking under Bang,” Chan says smoothly, his tone low and confident.
The employee nods, checking the screen and handing him a set of shoes. Meanwhile, Jisung leans closer to you, his voice conspiratorial. “Must be nice, huh?”
You giggle, glancing at Chan as he talks to the guy like it’s second nature. “I’d be half passed out by this point talking to another human like that.”
Jisung snorts, his laugh low and infectious. “Right? Meanwhile, Mr. Smooth over here acts like he owns the place.”
Chan turns back to you both, raising an eyebrow. “You two gossiping about me?”
“Always,” Jisung replies without missing a beat, his grin cheeky as Chan rolls his eyes and leads you down a side hallway.
At the end of the hallway is a door marked Private Lane. Chan opens it with a flourish, stepping aside to let you and Jisung walk in first. The private lane is sleek and modern, with plush seating and mood lighting that makes it feel more like a lounge than a bowling alley.
“You’ve outdone yourself, Mr. Smooth,” Jisung says, plopping onto the couch with a dramatic sigh.
Chan ignores him, instead turning his attention to you. “So, have you ever bowled before?”
You hesitate for a split second before shaking your head. “No,” you say, your voice soft.
Chan quirks an eyebrow, and Jisung’s grin widens. “Never?” Chan asks, his tone somewhere between disbelief and amusement.
“Nope,” you lie smoothly, hoping they won’t catch on.
“Well then,” Chan says, grabbing a bowling ball from the rack and holding it out to you, “we’ll have to teach you.”
“Absolutely,” Jisung chimes in, standing up and grabbing another ball. He rests it on his hip as he walks over to you. “This is gonna be fun.”
You smile, biting back your nerves as they both step closer, their expressions eager and intent. You might not be a complete novice at bowling, but right now, the idea of their hands guiding yours and their attention entirely on you feels worth a little white lie.
Chan rolls up his sleeves and grabs a bowling ball from the rack, his silver chain catching the light as he steps to the lane. “Alright, Y/N,” he says, holding the ball out to you. “Let’s start simple. Just grip it here and here.”
You take the ball, the weight of it heavier than you expected, and Chan steps behind you, close but not overwhelming. His hands rest lightly on your elbows as he adjusts your stance. “Feet shoulder-width apart. Bend your knees a little.”
Jisung lounges on the nearby couch, a smug grin on his face. “Don’t drop it on your foot.”
“Helpful,” Chan mutters, shooting him a look before turning back to you. “Ignore him. Now, swing it back gently, then forward. Let it roll off your fingers when it feels right.”
His voice is low and patient, and you nod, following his instructions. With Chan’s hands steadying your arms, you swing the ball forward. It rolls down the lane with a satisfying thud, wobbling slightly before knocking over a few pins.
“Not bad,” Chan says, his voice warm with approval. “Let’s try that again.”
The game continues, and for the first few rounds, either Chan or Jisung is always there, standing behind you, guiding your movements. Jisung’s approach is less methodical than Chan’s, he’s more playful, cracking jokes and deliberately leaning close enough to make you laugh as he adjusts your grip.
“Alright, superstar,” Jisung says during your next turn, resting his chin on your shoulder for a moment as he lines up the shot with you. “This time, aim for the left side. Trust me.”
You roll your eyes but follow his advice, and the ball takes out a solid chunk of pins. Jisung cheers loudly, throwing his hands up like you’ve just won a championship. “See? I’m a genius!”
Chan laughs from his spot on the couch, his eyes crinkling with amusement. “You’re ridiculous.”
The real chaos begins each time it’s Jisung’s turn. Instead of bowling normally, he walks up to the lane, turns his back to the pins, and bends over, rolling the ball between his legs. It glides perfectly down the centre of the lane, knocking down every pin in a clean strike.
“Fuck yeah!” Jisung yells, spinning around with his arms raised in victory. “Did you see that?”
“That shouldn’t even count,” Chan calls out, shaking his head in disbelief. “You didn’t even look!”
Jisung shrugs dramatically, grabbing another ball. “Jealousy isn’t a good look on you.”
His next turn, he lies flat on his stomach at the start of the lane, pushing the ball forward with both hands. Once again, it rolls perfectly down the lane and crashes into the pins, scattering them everywhere.
“This is bullshit,” Chan mutters, standing up and grabbing a ball. “There’s no way you’re this lucky.”
“It’s not luck!” Jisung insists, grinning from ear to ear. “It’s raw talent.”
You can’t stop laughing, your sides aching as Jisung continues his streak of absurd bowling techniques. He tries spinning the ball while crouched like a frog, rolling it while hopping backwards, and even attempting to launch it from his lap while sitting. Somehow, every ridiculous method he tries results in a strike.
“You’re unbelievable,” you say, shaking your head as you watch him collapse onto the couch, arms raised in mock exhaustion.
“Unbelievably good,” Jisung corrects, winking at you.
“Annoying is more like it,” Chan quips, his smirk softening the words.
Tumblr media
The second game kicks off, and you decide it’s time to step up. Chan and Jisung exchange a glance as you grab a ball, their eyebrows raised in mild surprise.
“You got this,” Chan says, leaning casually against the scoring console.
Jisung smirks from where he’s sprawled on the couch, his silver rings glinting as he gestures toward the lane. “Show us what you’ve learned, superstar.”
You roll your eyes but can’t hide the smile tugging at your lips. With confidence, you line up your shot, swing the ball back, and release it. It glides perfectly down the lane, straight into the pins, scattering them in a deafening crash. A clean strike.
The room falls silent for a split second before Jisung shoots up from the couch, pointing an accusatory finger at you. “We’ve been fucking hustled!”
You turn to him, feigning innocence as you shrug. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Jisung’s jaw drops dramatically. “Oh, you’re good. Real good. You just wanted us to feel you up, didn’t you?”
You duck your head, biting your lip to hide the shy smile that betrays you and Chan laughs as he steps forward, ruffling Jisung’s hair as he passes. “Oh, she did,” he says, his voice warm and teasing. “But don’t tease her too much, Ji. Look, you’ve made her all shy.”
Jisung grins, unbothered, and strides up behind you. Before you can step away, he wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you against him. “Be honest,” he murmurs near your ear, his voice low enough that only you can hear. “You’ve bowled before, haven’t you?”
You nod once, still too shy to speak, and his nose brushes lightly against the side of your neck as he chuckles. “Little liar,” he whispers, his tone playful and affectionate.
Chan takes his turn at the lane, his throw smooth and precise, though he leaves two pins standing. He shakes his head as he turns back toward you, grinning as Jisung presses a kiss to the top of your head before letting you go.
While Chan preps for his spare, Jisung leans over to the control pad on the table and presses a few buttons. “You drink?” he asks, glancing at you.
You tilt your head curiously. “They have cocktails?”
Jisung nods, scrolling through the menu on the screen. “Yep. What’s your poison?”
You hum thoughtfully, tapping your lip as you consider. “Hmm. Sex on the Beach.”
Jisung freezes for half a second before turning to you with a grin so wicked it makes your heart skip. “We could have sex on the bowling lane.”
Your jaw drops as you stare at him in shock, your eyes wide. “Jisung!”
He bursts out laughing, his arms wrapping around you again as he pulls you into a tight hug. “I’m kidding! You’re so easy to mess with, it’s adorable.”
You huff, though you can’t fight the laugh bubbling up as you swat his arm. “You’re impossible.”
“And you like it,” he quips, his grin softening as he rests his chin on your shoulder.
Chan returns to the table, his spare successfully picked up, and raises an eyebrow at the two of you. “What’d I miss?”
“Nothing,” you say quickly, shooting Jisung a look as he chuckles under his breath.
“Sure,” Chan says, his eyes narrowing slightly but the smile on his lips giving him away. “Whatever you say.”
Jisung, still grinning, reaches for the pad to confirm the drink order, adding a mock toast under his breath. “To bowling hustlers and adorable liars.”

The sleek convertible pulls up in front of your apartment building, its engine purring softly before Chan cuts it off. The night air is cool, brushing against your skin as you step out of the car andJisung hops out after you, his cropped leather blazer catching the streetlight as he stretches.
“This is the part where we find out if you’re a hoarder or if you’ve got some hidden skeletons in your closet,” he teases, falling into step beside you.
Chan chuckles, locking the car as he joins you both. “Don’t scare her off, Ji.”
You lead them up the stairs, your sneakers tapping lightly against the concrete as the three of you climb to your floor. At your door, you unlock it with a faint click and push it open, flipping on the lights. The warm, lived-in space comes into view, shelves lined with books and figurines, Attack on Titan posters framing one wall, and a collection of Harry Potter merch spread across various surfaces.
Jisung steps in first, his eyes immediately scanning the room. His mouth falls open slightly as he takes in the decor. “Anime and Harry Potter?” he says, his voice filled with awe. He turns to you with a playful grin. “You’ve officially made me fall in love.”
You laugh softly, shaking your head as you kick off your shoes. “It’s not that impressive.”
“It’s fucking heaven,” Jisung declares, his eyes darting from the Levi Ackerman figurine on your shelf to the Hufflepuff throw blanket draped over your couch.
Chan is about to respond when the soft patter of paws echoes through the apartment. Simba, your golden retriever, pads out from the hallway, his tail wagging lazily as he stops in front of Chan, sniffing curiously.
“Oh my God,” Chan breathes, crouching down immediately to pet the dog. His hand brushes over Simba’s soft fur, his face lighting up with pure joy. “He's adorable"
You watch Chan coo at Simba, scratching behind his ears. The dog leans into his touch, clearly pleased.
Jisung flops onto your couch, letting out a dramatic sigh and you sit next to him. “No, seriously. This apartment is heaven. Anime, Harry Potter, and now a golden retriever?” He looks at you, his grin softening into something more genuine. “You’re perfect.”
Before you can respond, Jisung leans forward and presses a quick kiss to your lips. His touch is fleeting, like he’s testing the waters, and his eyes widen immediately as he pulls back. “Uh, shit, sorry, I-”
You cut him off by leaning in and kissing him again, your hands lightly brushing against his chest. His surprise melts into a quiet groan as he deepens the kiss, his fingers tangling gently in your hair while his other hand finds its way to the small of your back.
Behind you, Chan stands up slowly, his dark eyes locked on the two of you. There’s a heat in his gaze, his tongue swiping over his lower lip as he watches, his hands slipping casually into his pockets.
Jisung pulls away just enough to look into your eyes, his breath warm against your lips. “You’re dangerous, you know that?” he murmurs, a grin playing at the edges of his mouth.
“Only to you,” you tease, your voice barely above a whisper.
Chan steps forward, his boots clicking softly against the floor before he leans down and cups your face in his hands. His touch is gentle but firm as he tilts your chin up, his eyes searching yours for permission.
When you don’t pull away, he leans in, capturing your lips in a kiss that’s slower, deeper, and filled with intent. His thumbs brush against your jawline as he holds you steady, the kiss sending a shiver down your spine.
As Chan kisses you, Jisung doesn’t move far. Instead, he wraps his arms around you from behind, his lips finding the curve of your neck. He presses a series of soft, lingering kisses along your skin, his breath warm and his touch featherlight.
Chan pulls back slightly, his forehead resting against yours as he glances at Jisung over your shoulder. “You good back there?” he asks, his voice rough with a mix of humor and something darker.
Jisung grins against your neck, his hands tightening around your waist. “Oh, I’m very good,” he replies, his voice muffled as he presses another kiss to your neck.
Chan brushes his thumb gently against your cheek, his gaze steady and soft despite the heat simmering in his dark eyes. “If you don’t want to go any further, let us know,” he says quietly, his voice low and reassuring. “There’s no pressure.”
You take a deep breath, the tension in your shoulders easing at his words. Meeting his gaze, you manage a small, shy smile. “My bedroom is the door at the end of the hall.”
A flicker of surprise crosses Chan’s face before it’s replaced with a warm, knowing smile. He takes your hand, his grip firm but careful, and starts leading you toward the hallway. Behind you, Jisung remains attached to your back, his arms draped loosely around your waist as he follows your movements step for step.
The short walk feels longer than it is, your heart racing with anticipation. When you reach the door, Chan opens it for you, stepping inside first to take in the space before turning back to you and Jisung. The room is cosy and well-kept, the bed neatly made with soft, neutral tones, and fairy lights strung up around the walls giving it a warm glow.
Jisung’s eyes sparkle with excitement as he steps inside, still clinging to you. “Oooh! I get to dom! I haven’t done that in a while. Chan doesn’t let me dom him!”
You let out a shy giggle as he twirls a strand of your hair around his finger. “Is that so?”
Chan snorts, closing the door behind him. “That’s because you’re a menace, Ji.”
“And you love it,” Jisung retorts, grinning as he tugs lightly on the strand of hair before letting it fall back into place.
Chan steps closer, his gaze dropping to meet yours, his voice taking on a teasing edge. “You ready for all other men to be ruined for you?”
You nod, biting your lip nervously but unable to suppress the small, eager smile that tugs at your mouth.
Jisung’s grin softens as he gently cups your face, his thumb brushing over your cheek. “You know this isn’t just a one-time thing, right?” His voice is quieter now, almost tentative, as if he needs to be sure.
You nod again, your hands lightly resting on his chest. “I know.”
Something shifts in Jisung’s expression, a mix of relief and exhilaration, before he leans in and kisses you, his lips warm and eager against yours. His hands slide down to your waist, gripping you firmly as he deepens the kiss. In one swift motion, he lifts you effortlessly, your legs wrapping instinctively around his waist as he presses you back against the wall.
Chan steps closer, his hands brushing against Jisung’s shoulders as he tilts his head to kiss the side of Jisung’s neck. His lips trail up slowly, leaving warm, open-mouthed kisses along Jisung’s skin, making him shiver slightly even as he keeps his focus on you.
Jisung pulls back just enough to meet your gaze, his breathing uneven but his grin still intact. “Ready for this, baby?”
You nod, your hands curling around the back of his neck as your chest presses against his. With both of them here, surrounding you with their attention and warmth, you’ve never felt safer or more wanted.

Three Months Later
The Alpha Phi frat house is as chaotic as ever, laughter and the faint hum of music filling the space as you step inside with Chan and Jisung. You’re wearing black cargo trousers, a lilac cropped lace camisole, and black Converse. Your hair is clipped up messily, stray strands framing your face, and your makeup is flawless as usual.
Jisung struts beside you, his black baggy jeans slung low enough to reveal the waistband of his black boxers. His cropped black long-sleeved top and silver chain make him look effortlessly edgy, and Chan, on your other side, is the perfect counterpoint with his black cargo trousers, sleek black t-shirt, leather jacket, and matching chain.
The three of you are greeted by the sight of Minho lounging on the couch with Felix perched in his lap, their positions far too cosy for anything innocent. Felix is giggling about something, his blonde hair tousled as Minho’s arms keep him firmly in place.
“What’s going on?” Felix asks, his bright eyes darting between the three of you as you hesitate near the doorway. There’s a curious tilt to his head, but his smile is easy and warm.
You open your mouth to speak but quickly close it again, glancing at Minho with wide eyes. At the same time, Jisung nudges Chan, who scratches the back of his neck awkwardly. Minho’s grip tightens on Felix’s waist as if bracing himself for impact. His knowing smirk is the only indication that he’s been expecting this moment for weeks.
Felix frowns slightly, leaning back against Minho. “I feel like I’m missing something.”
“Uh, yeah,” Jisung says, dragging out the words with a nervous laugh. “You could say that.”
Before Felix can ask anything else, you and Jisung simultaneously push Chan forward, using him as a shield as you step behind him. “You tell him,” Jisung whispers urgently, peeking over Chan’s shoulder.
Chan sighs, giving both of you a side-eye before turning to Felix. “Okay. Felix,” he starts, his tone careful but firm. “You know Jisung and I are together, right?”
Felix blinks, his expression turning incredulous. “Obviously. I’ve heard you two fuck in every part of the house.”
Chan pinches the bridge of his nose, muttering under his breath before continuing. “Right. Well, we added a third to our relationship.”
Felix’s face lights up with excitement. “That’s great! Who is it?!”
Minho stares at Felix in disbelief, his lips parting slightly before he mutters, “Oh, Lix. You’re so pretty. So, so pretty.”
Jisung, still partially hidden behind Chan, snickers. “But dumb. Even compared to me.”
Felix’s head snaps toward Minho, his frown deepening. “Well?! Who is it?”
Minho sighs, rolling his eyes like he’s explaining something painfully obvious. “It’s Y/N.”
Felix tilts his head further, the frown deepening into confusion. “My sister Y/N?”
Chan, deadpan, replies, “No, another Y/N on campus.”
Felix’s eyes widen, looking between all of you. “Really?”
Minho groans, his hand dragging down his face. “So, so pretty.”
Everyone goes quiet, waiting for Felix to piece it together. Jisung and you peek over Chan’s shoulders, your expressions nervous but slightly amused as you watch the gears turning in Felix’s brain.
But nothing happens. Felix’s brow furrows, his mouth opening and closing like he’s about to speak but can’t find the words. Minho watches him for another few seconds before shaking his head in resignation.
“It’s not computing, is it?” Jisung whispers to you, his voice barely audible as he stifles a laugh.
You shake your head, biting your lip to hold back your own giggles. “Not at all.”
Felix finally bursts out, “Wait, so you’re telling me-”
Everyone leans in slightly, hopeful.
“-you, Jisung and Y/N are… like, all three of you?” His eyes dart between you, Jisung, and Chan, still visibly processing.
Minho buries his face in Felix’s shoulder with a groan. “Yes, baby. Yes, that’s exactly what we’ve been saying. God, you’re gorgeous, but your brain…”
Felix’s eyes narrow at Minho’s tone. “Shut up. I get it. I’m just surprised!” He turns to you, his voice higher-pitched now. “You? Really?”
Jisung pats Chan on the back. “We might be here a while.”
Tumblr media
It’s been twenty minutes, and Felix is still sitting in Minho’s lap, staring blankly at the floor. His mouth occasionally opens as if he’s about to say something, only to snap shut again. Meanwhile, you and Jisung remain firmly behind Chan, who’s started tapping his foot against the hardwood floor, his arms crossed as his patience wears thin.
Minho gently strokes Felix’s arm, his voice soft but laced with teasing. “I know your little brain has processed it by now, baby. Come on, some emotion. Anything. You can do it.”
Felix blinks a few times before his gaze slowly shifts to you, his expression finally breaking out of the fog of shock. “Wait, wait, wait,” he says, his tone incredulous as he points at you. “You’ve never had a serious boyfriend in your life. Ever. Just random hookups! And now you come back with two boyfriends?”
Your eyes widen, and you glance at Jisung, who’s biting his lip to keep from laughing. Chan sighs heavily but stays silent as Felix continues his rant.
“What the fuck is this bullshittery?” Felix exclaims, throwing his hands in the air. “It took me twenty fucking years to lock down one man! One! She meets these guys and bam! Two boyfriends! Just like that! The universe is sexist and homophobic!”
Jisung finally bursts out laughing, clutching his stomach as he leans on Chan for support. “It wasn’t like bam!” he protests between giggles. “There was a buildup, okay? Like two months of it. And now we’ve been happily dating for three months.”
Felix’s head snaps toward him, his jaw dropping. “Three months?! How the fuck did I not notice?”
Minho, who’s been quietly holding back his own laughter, smirks. “You didn’t notice because I was deployed as your distraction.” He leans closer to Felix’s ear, his voice dropping slightly. “Every time Chan and Jisung left to see Y/N, I railed you into next week.”
Felix makes a choking noise, his cheeks going bright red. “Minho!”
Minho grins shamelessly, brushing a strand of Felix’s hair back. “It worked, didn’t it?”
Felix glares at him for a moment before sighing dramatically and turning back to you, Jisung, and Chan. He points at you, his expression serious. “Okay! Fine! But if either of you hurt her,” he says, directing his attention to Jisung and Chan, “I did taekwondo for twelve years, and I’ll fuck you up.”
Jisung salutes him, his grin wide. “Noted.”
Chan nods solemnly. “Fair warning. Got it.”
Felix leans back against Minho, letting out an exaggerated sigh. “Now, Minho, take me somewhere where I can cry, scream, and throw up to process this bullshit. Because now I have the knowledge that my friends are Eiffel towering my sister!”
He gags dramatically, covering his face with both hands as Minho finally loses his composure and laughs openly. “Alright, baby,” Minho says, standing up and hoisting Felix with him like he weighs nothing. “Let’s get you somewhere private to let it all out.”
As Minho carries Felix toward the stairs, Felix shoots you one last look, his hand flailing in mock accusation. “This isn’t over, Y/N! I need therapy!”
As Felix and Minho disappear up the stairs, you let out a heavy sigh. “Booze,” you say firmly, your tone decisive. “I need booze.”
Jisung perks up immediately, grinning like the devil himself. “The kitchen is more of a bar than a place we store food. Let’s go.” He takes your hand, leading you toward the kitchen as Chan follows, shaking his head fondly. “And hey, if you’re nice, I’ll roll us some joints.”
You raise an eyebrow at him as you step into the spacious but chaotic kitchen. “Am I not always nice?”
Jisung freezes for a second before turning to you with wide eyes and an apologetic grin. “Kidding! Kidding, baby!” He tugs you closer and presses a quick kiss to your temple. “Tell you what, we can even use my cherry papers.”
That earns a smile from you, the edges of your tension softening. “Deal.”
Chan rolls his eyes, already moving toward the counter to pull down glasses. “You two are impossible,” he mutters, but there’s no bite to his words.
Jisung skips over to a cupboard and pulls out a tin labelled Jisung’s Shit in bold, slightly crooked letters. He pops it open on the counter, revealing a neatly arranged collection of rolling papers, a grinder, and a stash that smells distinctly skunky and sweet. “What’ll it be?” he asks over his shoulder, wiggling his eyebrows. “Straight joints, spliffs, or my famous two-layer combo?”
“Famous?” Chan interjects as he pours three hefty servings of whiskey into the glasses. “Last time you made that, you couldn’t get off the couch for six hours.”
“Which means it worked,” Jisung retorts, sticking his tongue out before turning back to you. “Your call, baby.”
You laugh softly, shaking your head as you lean against the counter. “Keep it simple tonight.”
Jisung mock-salutes you, grabbing the papers and his grinder with an exaggerated flourish. As he works, Chan slides a glass into your hand, his own already in his other. “Here,” he says, his tone warm.
You take a sip, the burn of the whiskey grounding you almost immediately. Jisung hums softly to himself as he rolls, his hands deft and practised. It’s a strangely comforting sight, the three of you falling into this rhythm together, the chaos of earlier fading into the background.
Jisung finishes quickly, holding up the joint with a grin. “And voilà. Cherry perfection.” He lights it with a flourish, taking a quick puff before passing it to you.
You take it carefully, the sweet smoke curling into the air as you take a slow, cautious drag. The tension in your chest eases a little more, replaced by a warmth that’s equal parts the whiskey, the weed, and the presence of the two men beside you.
Chan clinks his glass against yours, his smile soft but teasing. “So, what’s the verdict? Does this make up for your brother’s meltdown?”
You snort, shaking your head. “It helps. He’s going to be a drama queen about this for weeks, though.”
Jisung leans against your side, draping an arm over your shoulders. “Good thing you’ve got us, huh? We’ll keep you sane.”
“You say that like you two aren’t half my stress,” you tease, earning a loud laugh from both of them.
As the night wears on, the three of you settle into easy conversation, the kitchen filled with laughter and the faint haze of smoke. It’s not perfect, and the chaos of the day still lingers at the edges, but for now, it feels enough. You’re surrounded by warmth, care, and a sense of belonging that you hadn’t expected to find but now that you have it, you’re not letting it go.

Back to "the Ainur but they're mandalas": Sauron through the ages. I should do Melkor in this way too.

Yes, some are difficult to see (zoom please), that's part of the point/of the problem/whatever. The "why he was so tempted to be evil" thing.
I wonder how many of those are understandable (as in: what period is this). Guessed would be appreciated.

"I thought I told you to wait in the village," Zoro grumbled, looking down at the girl who sat at his feet, holding onto an umbrella as she shook her head at the question.
"Why are you so damn stubborn?!" he growled, letting out a choked scoff as she simply pointed at him in response
"What the hell do you mean because of me, hah?!"
The girl made no move to respond to the swordsman tied on the cross, choosing instead to put her attention on the young man who made his way to the execution site.
"It's you again; I told you I'm not going to be a pirate."
"I'm Luffy! If I loosen up the ropes, you'll join me, okay?!"
"No!" he snapped
"I'm not going to be a bad guy like a pirate."
"Why do you care anyway? Everyone already thinks you're a bad guy," Luffy pipes back with a frown.
"Listen here, the only one I care to hear anything about is that one," he said, gesturing to the girl who, by now, had opted to close her umbrella and hide behind the cross Zoro had been tied to and the shade this one provided
Luffy adverted his eyes to the girl as if finally taking notice of her presence.
"Why are you wearing that?" He questioned, pointing to the bamboo stick held between Dokucha's lips
"Mind your business!" Zoro huffed out
"I don't care what anyone else says about me. I haven't done one thing that I regretted in the past, and it will be the same in the future, so I won't become a pirate."
"I don't care; you are going to join me!" Luffy petunly replied
"Oi! Don't decide for yourself!!"
"Hey, I heard you used a katana. Is that right?" he asked, ignoring the swordsman's outburst.
"If I wasen't tied up, I could use a katana."
"Where is the katana?"
"That bastard took it; it's what I treasure the most, other than our lives!!
"Okay! I will go where the bastard kid is and get your Katana back! But if you want me to return it to you, you'll have to join me, Shihsii," Luffy proudly proclaimed, letting out a loud laugh as he finished his words.
"That's Dirty!"
Luffy paid no mind to the hunter's words as he turned around and left with a wave and a promise to come back with the sword.
"...Is he going to sneak into the base to get them back? What an idiot!" he muttered, his attention snapping next to him at the sound of movement. Taking notice of Dokucha and how her attention did not deviate from the pirate leaving the site, he was quick to understand her intentions.
"Dokucha, Don't," he warned, watching as she tentatively stepped away from him and eventually made a run for it, easily making her way over the wall and turning back to the man with a mischievous look on her face and a peace sign on her hands as she jumped down the wall to follow Luffy, letting her descend be slowed by the umbrella as she let out muffled laughs at the scream that rang out as she did
"Yo- Wait until I get my hands on you!"
Tumblr media
"That's strange; there aren't any marines around here; you think they are having a meeting?" Luffy asked, looking down at the girl, huffing as she offered a shrug
"Nevermind the katana! I can't even find that bastard like this," he cried, frowning as Dokcuha pulled on his vest, watching as she pointed to the top of the building.
"Oh, you're right! There seems to be people up there. Good job," he cheered.
"Alright! Come here!" He called, picking up the girl and placing her on his hip as he reeled his fist back
"Hold tight. I'm about to show you something real awesome, SHishihsihi."
Dokucha let out an excited squeal as the boy launched himself into the air. It turned out that he was right; his abilities and what he had just done were awesome. However, the post-planning could use some work, as as soon as they made a landing, they had to make a run for it, running away with the man who had convicted her brother in the first place.
It turns out the man was as big a coward as both the Roronoa siblings had first thought. He lost consciousness soon after Luffy 'Kidnapped,' him though the rough handling the latter had given probably had a small part in it.
"Alright, found the katana!" Luffy exclaimed, carrying the unconscious man, who by now had begun spouting bubbles from his mouth
"But there's three katanas, which one is Zoro's?" Luffy asked, looking down at the man and frowning when he received no response
"Ah! You must know which one is his, right?!" Luffy asked, turning towards the kid behind him, who nodded and pointed at the katanas
"Yes, I know one is his, but which one is it?"
Dokucha huffed at this, pulling out three fingers and showing them to the pirate.
"All three?!" he gaped.
"Well, if you say so," he mused, grabbing all three and hanging them from his back.
"Now then! We can head back! Huh, what's wrong?" he asked, looking down at Dokucha as she began pulling at his vest agitatated, and they pointed to the window with frantic eyes.
"That's... Koby! Zoro!" He cried, taking hold of Dokucha and rocketing himself to the execution grounds just in time to stand in the way of the barrage of bullets the marines had unleashed, much to the horror of Koby and the Roronoa siblings
Only for their eyes to be blown out of their sockets as the bullets simply bounced off the man and right back to the Marines, taking the squadron down
"SHSIHIHI"
"What kind of human are you?!"
"Shishishi, the one who will become the pirate King!"
"Look! She told me all three of these swords were yours. Have they stolen your Katana more than once?" he mused.
"No, they stole them at the same time; it's because I use three katanas."
He let out a hum, looking out at the Marines who began to gather around the execution site.
"Resisting the Marines together with me will make you an outlaw, or maybe you want to die here?"
"Are you the offspring of the devil?... Never mind, I'm not about to die here, so how about I accept that request of yours and become a pirate only if she can come as well?"
"Yes! I have two companions!"
"Okay, enough of that, and get these ropes off me!" He yelled
Meanwhile, Dokucha approached the pink-haired man, gently shaking him awake.
"Ugh, Ah, did I faint?" he groaned.
"Oh, thank you, little lady. Do you know what happened?" he questioned, watching as she pointed in front of them
He let out a terrified scream as he took in the scene: a barrage of marines heading their way with swords raised, with only Zoro and Luffy standing in the way. The latter leisurely took the ropes of the hunter while the former screamed at him to hurry up.
"Stop screaming; I need some time. I can't concentrate like this," he called.
"We don't have time for you to take your time!"
"Oh! I untied one side!" he called proudly.
"Idiot! Forget you! Dokucha! Get this off and throw me my swords!"
The girl nodded swiftly, making her way to the two. She snatched the swords on the way, allowing her power to source to her as her nails grew sharper, letting her slice through the remainder of the ropes with ease.
Knowing what was to come, she crouched down to stay out of range from her brother as he easily took care of the group of marines that had launched towards him, holding them at bay with his swords and a spoken threat as he pulled his attention to his soon to be Captain.
"After this incident with the Marines, we will be known as outlaws as well, but it doesn't matter; I still have my own goals!" He boldly exclaimed
"I will become the world's strongest Swordsman, and I will cure my sister; I do not care if my name is clean or not; if I'm a bad guy or a good guy, it matters not as she is able to walk under the sun once again, and my name is known worldwide," he vowed.
"But listen well. I don't care if you are my Captain. If you do anything to get in the way of my goals, I will have you Cut your stomach open in repentance!"
"Good! Since you are about to be the pirate king's crewmate to be the greatest swordsman, if you can't accomplish something that small, I would be embarrassed as well! And I wouldn't accept someone who does not care for their family and crew!"
"Ha! Well said," he laughed, taking notice as Captain Morgan ordered the Marines to hasten their efforts to eliminate them.
"Zoro, duck!" Luffy called as he reeled his leg back, allowing it to stretch and swinging it back, hitting the marines who had not been wise enough to duck it
"Dokucha, you're good," Zoro called, giving the small girl the green light, watching as her lips quirked slightly behind the bamboo as she readied herself.
With Gleeful determination, she launched herself through the air and easily landed in the face of a Marine who had managed to get through Luffy's attack and had tried to take the man down.
Not prepared for the sudden attack, the marine had been sent sprawling, allowing his body to become a stepping stone for the girl to continue her attack on his crewmates who had come to his aid. With practice movements, she easily dodged the slashing of their swords as she ducked down and pushed herself forward, taking the men down before they had realized their mistake.
Letting the adrenaline flowing through her body fuel her moves, she used the momentum to push herself back into the air. Slashing through the rest of the Marines on the plaza, she finished her attack by landing next to Zoro and Luffy.
"Ah! You're pretty strong too!" Luffy clamored, rubbing her head and grinning as the girl beamed at the praise, only for this to turn into horror as the Captain had ordered the marines who had claimed they were unable to beat them to kill themselves. She watched with dread as slowly but surely the men raised their weapons towards themselves.
She watched as Luffy launched himself toward the Captain, effectively causing the men to freeze in their actions as they watched their Captain be taken down by a no-name pirate.
"Wait!" A voice called at the same time a force pulled the girl back
"You move, and I shoot these two!" Helmeppo called as he pointed two guns into both her and Koby's skulls
"Luffy! I don't want to be in your way! I am not afraid of death!" he boldly stated, unable to notice the similar position the girl found herself on
"Okay! I know," Luffy stated with a smile as he reeled his fist back, ignoring the looming threat above him as Morgan got back on his feet.
"Luffy, Look out!" Koby yelled
"Dokucha," he called, grinning as the girl sent her a nod.
The next few seconds passed in a blurry at best, with Luffy reeling back and sending a signal to the girl. She propulsed herself and grabbed Koby, pulling them both out of the range of the blond's guns, allowing Luffy a risk-free hit on him as he called on Zoro the same way he had called Dokucha seconds earlier, watching as the swordsman took care of the Captain about to bring his Axe down on Luffy.
Dokucha's squeals of Victory were nothing compared to the Marines' cheers as they realized they were finally free from Morgan's tyrannical rule. The town, elated with happiness, was not shy in its appreciation of its heroes as it allowed them to feast. That is until the Marines, bound by code, kicked the three out in the nicest way possible, even saluting them as they sailed out into the sea.
"Huh? Dokucha, you can still see them?" Luffy wondered as she watched the girl, one of her arms still waving in the direction of the shore as the other held tightly into the handle of the umbrella
"She has sharper senses than us, being a demon and all," Zoro replied, opening one of his eyes to address the new Captain.
"Oh! Like you?"
"No, My demon title is just an epithet; Dokucha was actually turned into a demon when we were younger; that's why I will find a cure for her."
"Once I become the King of the pirates, I'm sure that will be easy to find!" he cheerily exclaimed
"Say Dokucha, why don't you be our lookout! You have better eyes than us, so it's the perfect job for you!" Luffy excitedly prattled, letting out a belly laugh as she excitedly nodded at the preposition
"That reminds me, Dokucha," Zoro called ominously as he stood up, eyes obscured as a dangerous smirk grew on his face, much to her terror.
"Back there...what was that about running away when I can't stop you?"
Luffy's laugh rang through the vast sea as he watched the Roronoa siblings run around him in circles, with the older one trying to catch up to her and the younger one doing her best to escape his rage.

a/n: My first Harry Potter/Marauders fic!!!! wowie!!!! This one was fun to write, and I hope I didn't make everyone too out of character!
title from the song Obstacles by Syd Matters
---
It was evening, and dinner ended about an hour ago. You left the Hufflepuff barrel and joined the Marauders in the Gryffindor common room soon after changing out of your uniform.
“I’m telling you guys, Lily fancies me! She didn’t roll her eyes when she saw me, that’s progress!” James said, his hands moving frantically for emphasis as he sat straight on the sofa.
Sirius scoffed from where he was lying with his head leaning on Remus’ shoulder. “Oh yeah, what did she do, scowl instead? Tell you to leave her alone?”
James faltered at that, falling back into the cushions behind him.
“Maybe- maybe you’re right, James. Maybe she’s not as annoyed by you,” you interjected, looking up from the game of wizard’s chess you were playing with Peter. The two of you sat opposite of each other, sitting in front of the fireplace.
He perked up at that, extending a hand in your direction. “See!? She agrees with me! And she’s a girl! She’d know more about Lily than I would!”
Sirius hummed, “She’s a Hufflepuff; that’s the people-pleaser house.”
“I mean it,” you insisted, watching as your opponent contemplated his move.
Peter glanced at James after he clicked his button on the timer, his head resting on one of his hands. “Prongs, you sound a bit loony right now.”
“Loony!?” James shrieked, mouth wide open and glasses catching the light of the fire. Peter simply shrugged, looking back to the game once you’d made a move.
“Please, everyone, stop shouting…” Remus groaned, eyeing everyone with exasperation. “I’m trying to read this book, and it’s very hard to follow when you’re all bickering like first years.”
You sat up, looking over to Remus. “What book are you reading?”
“The Idiot.”
You nodded, humming. “What part are you at?”
He marked the page before closing the paperback book and setting it aside. “The part when Kolya reads the newspaper to the Prince, the nihilists, and… the others in the room. At the dacha, I think?”
With a grimace, you looked back to the game of chess. “Yeah, that part’s odd. I was so confused when-"
"God, you swots.” Sirius interrupted, lolling his head back onto Remus’ shoulder. “I’m so bored.” He whined with a dramatic frown, kicking his legs petulantly.
“Well, what do you suggest we do?” The boy Sirius had leaned his weight on asked, watching the game of wizard’s chess in front of them.
Sirius grinned, sitting up and crossing his legs in his lap. “Well, I found sparklers-” “We are not doing a prank right now.” Remus interrupted, turning to the dark-haired boy. Sirius sputtered, mouth agape. “Why not!? Moony, come on!”
James had a similar reaction, his eyes wide and jaw dropped. “Moons-”
“No.”
“Why does everyone hate me today!?” James lamented, dramatically falling back onto the couch.
“No one’s awake and wandering the halls except for prefects, dumbass.” Peter muttered, “Bishop to D5.” You cursed under your breath, watching as he clicked the timer on his end and your clock began to count down.
“There are more uses to sparklers than causing chaos,” Remus suggested, stretching his arms with a pop that Peter grimaced at. “And we have more time to carry out a prank tomorrow, anyways.”
Sirius sighed, an expression of boredom on his face as he gestured for the werewolf to continue. “Well… we could just use them as intended. Light them up, or something.”
“That’s so boring!” Both James and Sirius exclaimed, looking at each other and stretching to the other couch to make the loudest, most painful-sounding high-five ever in response to their in-sync whining. They proceeded to keep high-fiving until they both deemed it satisfactory, receiving a fond eye roll from Remus and a hum from you.
“Back at home, my old muggle primary school friends and I would light sparklers at the lake and look at the stars. We could do that,” you commented, clicking the timer and allowing Peter to make a move. The sound of Sirius and James cheering and saying ‘again, again,’ repeated in the background.
Remus nodded, shifting to stand up. “Come on then, James. Get your invisibility cloak,” He prompted the bespectacled boy, causing him to look at Remus with a smile.
He left Sirius after one more high-five, practically leaping up from the couch and running upstairs, nearly slipping on the hardwood steps. He returned just a few seconds later with the cloak in hand. “So, why did you want it?”
“We’re going to the Black Lake,” Remus said decidedly, shifting his weight onto his right leg when his left hip began to hurt. Sirius, noticing the change in his demeanor, stood up and placed a gentle hand on his back.
You and Peter looked at each other, shrugging before resetting the game. You extended a hand, “I was bound to lose, anyway. Good game.” Peter shook your hand, smiling. “Good game.”
With that, you and the Marauders gathered by the entrance to the common room, watching as Sirius ran off to fetch the muggle sparklers. He returned not long after he left, looking to the stairway to make sure no one was around before giving the okay. James unraveled the cloak and draped it over the five of you.
The air was chilly when you made it outside, typical of a fall evening. The sun set a while ago, and the stars just came out. Thankfully, everyone was dressed in jumpers; to say everyone was wearing their rightful jumper would be a stretch, though.
Once making it to the Black Lake, James abandoned the cloak by a large tree, looking up at the sky as Sirius pulled out the pack of sparklers. Remus fished out an old, rusty lighter from his pocket.
“Come now children, gather round!” Sirius exclaimed, holding out a few sparklers and handing them out to you, James, Remus, and Peter.
Remus helped light them all, sparks, as the name suggests, flying from the rods.
You all stood in a circle, the sparklers creating a warm glow in the otherwise dark, cold atmosphere of the lake. Everyone’s faces, all rosy cheeks and large smiles, were illuminated by light.
James and Sirius were by far the most entertained by the things, waving them around. You admired the glow and crackle of them, the smell familiar as you took in the scene around you. It felt homey, familiar. You hadn’t spoken with those friends that you first did this with in years, and yet it hardly bothered you as you enjoyed remaking those memories with the Marauders.
You and the others slowly drifted to the shore, James and Sirius shrieking as the flames grew close to their fingers. “My hands are gonna get burnt off!” James cried dramatically, waving it around.
The long-haired boy laughed, throwing the sparkler that was swiftly burning down to his fingers out into the water. It hissed, little sparks flying as it immediately snuffed out. “Oi, did you hear that!?”
“What? Is something wrong?” Remus asked from his spot on the ground beside you, noticing Sirius’ lack of a sparkler as he took his eyes away from the sky. He had put his out not long ago, attention turning to the stars.
“The sound it made when it went out!” Sirius replied, causing James to turn to him and Remus to sigh with relief.
“What? What sound? I wanna try!” James promptly dipped the sparkler into the calm, glass-like water of the Black Lake, gasping when it hissed and the sparks ceased. “Oh, that is wicked!” the boy grinned, fetching another sparkler and holding it out towards Remus. The group’s designated sparkler lighter walked over, holding out the flame to it again.
Meanwhile, you and Peter talked about stories from non-Hogwarts schools or summer breaks.
“My third-grade teacher was awful. She yelled at me for getting a bad mark on a quiz, and then made me redo it without telling me what I did wrong… I got the same mark.” You explained, dragging the end of the snuffed-out sparkler in the sand to make various little drawings and patterns.
“I was homeschooled, but I went to a summer camp program a few times. A kid called me brick-like in nature.”
You snorted with wide eyes, a hand over your mouth. “What? That- I’m so sorry, that’s not funny.” You apologized through poorly concealed laughter, Peter joining you soon after.
“No, it’s funny. Besides, it happened when I was, like, twelve.” The blonde-haired boy reassured, admiring the moon’s reflection on the lake.
Your discussion was interrupted when Sirius suddenly shrieked. You both whipped your heads to where the sound originated from, watching as James chased Sirius with a sparkler.
“My hair! You’re gonna catch my hair on fire!”
“Good! I’ve had enough of it, your hair gets everywhere in the dorm!” James shouted back, though the chase abruptly ended when he tripped over his own feet, face-planting onto the ground. The sparkler fell from his hands, snuffed out after it landed in the sand.
You all burst into laughter, Sirius turning around and guffawing with a hand over his mouth. “Mate, are you alright?” He snickered, crouching down. James looked up, taking Sirius’ hand and standing again with his help. “I’m fine,” the boy replied, though embarrassment laced his tone.
“Merlin, stop chasing each other around and look at the stars,” Peter interjected, gesturing to the sky. “You’re far less likely to trip and die this way.”
“Fine, fine.” James put his hands up, strutting over with Sirius following close behind.
They sat down beside Remus, lying on their backs. You, Peter, and the scar-covered boy followed, getting comfortable on the ground below you.
You rested your hands on your stomach, listening to the gentle wind and admiring the cosmos above you and the group.
Sirius shuffled a little closer to Remus, worming his arm underneath the other boy’s head as support. Remus received the gesture with an affectionate smile, the muscles of his shoulders and neck no longer aching.
James adjusted his glasses, taking them off and wiping their lenses with the hem of his jumper before placing them onto his face again.
For once, the group quieted.
You weren’t always around the Marauders. You met the group on the second day of your first year, swiftly growing to trust and be trusted by them. However, you were in a different house and had your own group of friends which you loved greatly.
If there was one thing you knew, the pranksters were a rambunctious group. There were very few scenarios in which the words were taken from their mouths, and you were glad to be there for one of them.
“...there was a slim chance I was to be allowed into Hogwarts,” Remus suddenly interjected, his voice soft. “Werewolves aren’t really allowed in these spaces. I’m so glad I was, though. I don’t know what I would’ve done if it weren’t for all of you. Everything has felt easier since I met you lot.”
The rest of you collectively awed, smiling.
You couldn’t see it in the dark, but Sirius shuffled a little closer to Remus.
“Aw, Moony,” James said, a large grin evident in his tone. “You too, Moons. I’m happy we’ve all stuck together.”
Even if you weren’t an official Marauder, you still felt your heart warm in your chest and a giddy smile overtake your face.
As a muggle-born, the chances were slim for you, too. But a little part of you knew that, even if you were born a muggle, you would've found them somehow. To know you belonged in something so tight-knit as the Marauders felt like a little more than just a happy accident, and you like to believe they thought so, too.
So, you all lay under the stars until your eyes drooped, and you walked up to your common rooms. That night, sleeping soundly amongst your Hufflepuff friends and roommates, you felt safe in the knowledge that you’d always belong somewhere.

On sightings
It's that blessed time of the year, with eggnog and spice galore?
Anons are never unemployed for long, because - as I always say - the idiots' mother is always pregnant.
To counter Park Anon, perhaps, another casual fan (relevant later) posted a sighting on another one of those FB behemoth fan groups that come with a LOT of small print barking around ('BE KIND! NO BULLYING! NO SPAM! NO ADS!'). That particular group is obviously Spanish/Latino based and that is sort of relevant, in the geopolitics of this fandom:
Tumblr media
Anyways, here goes. The woman had no fucking idea of Claire Fraser's civilian name, but was ashamed to admit to it - so long for accuracy, dude:
Tumblr media
Her sister is also a member of the group, but curiously enough nobody asked her anything, even if she was there and could have given her own feedback on the whole event. And she did not offer any, even when her next of kin was clawed around by the patrolling Stans Brigade. Perhaps because she's only been a member of the group since December 15, 2024 (her sister, the OG informer, was active in there since August 30 2024, only)?
Tumblr media
Anyways, all the obsessive tropes seem to have been thoroughly checked, in that comment thread.
Blonde Bambino? ✅
Tumblr media
Tracula? ✅✅- you know that one was coming, right?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Wookey Hole Caves is an amusement park in Somerset - oh, how convenient:
Tumblr media
C might have went with Blonde Bambino and retinue for the Winter Wonderland show - it does make sense.
Tumblr media
An easy daytrip from London, too. But it had to be Somerset, for some reason - where C has established no footprint since 2019 and something she never mentions in fan events (even though Tracula's relatives do live in that area - plot thickens). Where no other sighting had been reported since at least the Italian guy taking a fan pic with C, circa 2019-2020 (help me on this one, veterans 😘?).
What stroke me as odd wasn't even the lack of pictures. It would have been very easy to sneak one, since the OG informer's nephew was riding along Blonde Bambino on an age appropriate ride - but hey, let's not nitpick on that one, after all Park Anon didn't have any, either. Also, the OG informer is unsure about Caitriona's name, but knows exactly how old Blonde Bambino is? What about that 'almost 4" - did C casually throw some pebbles along the narrative track, like Hansel in that fairy tale? Isn't Blonde Bambino supposed to be 3 years, 4 months old? How is that 'almost 4'? Was the OG informer using her own deductive skills, based on a ride Verboten sign?
The carousel the Blonde Bambino could not supposedly ride on is this one. It is situated indoors, in the park's Penny Arcade zone, at The Mill (https://www.wookey.co.uk/things-to-do/):
Tumblr media
What stroke me as odd is that both the OG Informer and the Riding Toddler's mum are inexplicably elusive about any specific details. I was not expecting a deposition transcript, for sure, but at least a couple of those details that bring warmth, humanity and plausibility to a story. You know, like Park Anon's little girl having a tantrum because she didn't want to go home:
Tumblr media

Nothing of the sort, here. But if anything, what gave me pause the most is this tiny little tidbit the sanctimonious people across the street do not want you to see:
Tumblr media
You read that right. The Perfect Stay-At-Home Dad couldn't be arsed to watch 'his' son on a ride, in an amusement park where things can and do happen. The One Who Always Babysits, even when his 'wife' is clubbing around with her Praetorian Guard (credit given accordingly 😉) in London, knowing perfectly well C has a full time nanny for 'Baba', looked completely disconnected from the scène de genre. So much so, that the OG Informer had nothing else to report.
So which one is it? Was it T, was it someone else from the Praetorian Guard? Does it really, really matter?
All this carefully calibrated story surely made me think about one of the times I lied to a very nice bungalow B&B landlady, somewhere on the coast of the Peloponnese. When our electricity blew out in the middle of the (cold, February) night, I had to call her and explain 'me and my husband' were about to die frozen in her idyllic little orange orchard. My 'husband' was my best gay friend (currently posted somewhere in the Middle East, LOL) and we were very much plastered with excellent wine, which we happily continued to imbibe after the incident was solved. Bless her heart, she did ask me the next time I went there (with Someone, 😱) how was my 'husband' doing. I shamelessly told her we got divorced, in the meanwhile. She smirked and mumbled something like 'eh, diplomats'. LOL.
Double standards are, as always, prosperous across the street. Other than that, may I just add the most recent reviews of the park are ahem, mixed, at best?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Especially, perhaps, this particular review, written by a mom of a three-years old little girl:
Tumblr media
[Source: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g635922-d213489-Reviews-Wookey_Hole_Caves-Wookey_Hole_Somerset_England.html]
I find the management's answer extraordinarily enlightening. They know they have a problem with it. They offer settlement outside of the saloon, perhaps a batch of free tickets and hefty discounts thrown in for good measure. LOL, really LOL.
Hence my question, Your Honor: was it even C? Why would she do that, when she could have easily went to Eurodisney in Paris or any other fabulous London seasonal attraction, of which I am sure there are many? This, by all accounts, sounds more like a sad, rushed and tacky improvisation - again, why? Why on Earth do that to 'Baba'? Why?
Make it make sense, please, because right now it surely doesn't.
I rest my case.

WKA Recaps QL 2024: Favorite Characters
Thanks for the tag @my-rose-tinted-glasses and thank you to @abstractelysium for the prompts! Since I have watched 60 QL (or adjacent) shows this year, I am going to keep this specifically to my favorite characters of the queer shows that came out this year, and exclude older shows that I watched this year. (Which is for the best because it would just be Namgoong all the way down).
So here are my Top Ten in no Particular Order:
Akafuji Yuchiro- I Became the Main Role of a BL Drama
Tumblr media
I love me a little freak.
This boy is such a loser idiot boy and I appreciate how unapologetic he is in his unrepentant, overflowing love for Aoyagi Hajime. I love that one of the barriers between him and Aoyagi getting together is that Aoyagi thinks that Akafuji is cold and detached simply because Akafuji is trying so fucking hard not to McFreaking Lose It over the fact he’s working with Aoyagi. And I mentioned this in another post before, but I think one of the most important things we got from Akafuji is his ability to set clear boundaries between fandom and reality. He can love Aoyagi as his fan, but he knows he needs to stop considering himself Aoyagi’s fan the second he realizes his feelings have moved into something deeper.
Kasuga- She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat
Tumblr media
This is kind of unfair because I love all the women in this show. But Kasuga will hold the special place in my heart for standing up to her father and choosing herself and her found family over societal expectations and demands of the patriarchy. This feels especially important in a character like Kasuga who is so quiet, reserved, and relatively passive. We have seen other places where she hasn’t spoken up for herself, even in settings with people she loves and trusts (like when she wanted to go strawberry picking) and it is huge for her to actually make the choices she makes as they relate to her bio family. And I also think that it doesn’t feel like character growth that comes out of nowhere either, because she has been engaging in acts of resistance since the moment we meet her. As a child she was not allowed to eat as much as she wanted, but she allowed herself to eat as much as she wanted when she became an adult. Sure, it’s more a quiet act of rebellion, but I love it as an indication that Kasuga has always been strong, despite her more reserved nature.
Go Yeong- Love in the Big City
Tumblr media
THIS IS MY FUCKING GUY! It is incredibly important to me and not only important but downright vital that I read this book before I watched the show. I remember discussing during book club that in the first couple chapters I was really struggling with Young as a character. Mostly because I had intense insight into his inner thoughts that I would not and did not get when watching the show. I knew, or at least sincerely hoped, that by the end of the book I would love Young as a character, and I was correct. And it was really important to me to see a performance of Go Yeong that would honor the book character, and I do sincerely believe that Nam Yoon So did just that. I do believe that Go Yeong appeared like I would expect Young from the book to have appeared had I not been inside his head. I really appreciated seeing his growth as a person throughout both the book and the show, and he will stick with me for quite some time.
Cha Yeo Woon- Love for Love’s Sake
Tumblr media
Another show where I love almost all of the main characters in it. But I want to talk about Cha Yeo Woon who cannot hate anyone as much as he hates himself. The -100 floating over his head was a major fucking blow, and I just love how readily he falls in to loving Myung Ha once he starts to have a little bit more faith in himself and the people around him. When that boy smiled for the first time the entire world got brighter. He is such a great character, and one of my favorites, because everything that character does and is and everything Cha Joo Wan gives to breathe life into that character means you can absolutely understand why Myung Ha goes through hell to save Yeo Woon.
Wei Qian- Unknown
Tumblr media
This man has been through so much, he has lost so much, he has gained so much, and he has fought tooth and nail for everything and everyone he loves. He is such a good character, desperately trying to hold his family together, as much as it sucks for him I do appreciate that we got a character with a chronic illness/chronic pain. It feels so rare when characters have been through shit that there are actually serious physical consequences for the abuse they have gone through. And again, a major reason why he is one of my favorite characters this year comes down to the absolutely killer performance from Chris Chu.
Venice Barros- Marahuyo Project
Tumblr media
VENICE!!! WE GOT A TRANS GIRL IN A SHOW THIS YEAR!!!!!! AND SHE IS BEAUTIFUL AND OUTSPOKEN AND SO SO SO FUCKING EMPATHETIC TOWARDS PEOPLE SHE LOVES WHO HAVE HURT HER BECAUSE THEY ARE SCARED AND GRIEVING AND TRYING DESPERATELY TO CLUTCH TO THE ONLY THINGS THEY FEEL WILL PROTECT THEM. God I love her, and her incessant rambutan eating, so fucking much, I am so glad that she exists and I am so glad she has people like King and Lorena and Lili and yes even Archie in her life, and I am even more glad that they (and Archie especially) have people like her in theirs.
If you have not gotten around to watching Marahuyo Project please take this as a sign to do so.
Makoto- No One Cares for an Old Man’s Underwear
Tumblr media
DAD OF THE YEAR! I loved watching his growth arc, knowing how much he loves his family and how that love is what really causes him to start re-evaluating his worldview. Yet again there are so many incredible characters in here that I will carry in my heart as favorites. But I think Makoto especially deserves a shout out because he is still allowed to fuck up sometimes, and he’s still allowed to learn, and despite the fact that sometimes he stumbles and falls and ruins things, he makes me cry because he is devastated to have hurt the people that he loves, and he doesn’t give up. That is so goddamn important in a character like him. It would be so easy for him to hit his first roadblock and to simply throw up his hands in defeat and decide that it was all too hard and instead he just keeps trying and trying until he’s found his way back to his family, to friends, to a love and connection that he has not had with people in a very long time (or possibly ever).
Shiba Ryoma- Love is Like a Poison
Tumblr media
I cannot express how important it feels to me to have a character like Ryo, who is so serious and generally reserved have a queer awakening and just immediately lean in to it. He does not run from the idea of intimacy, and he does not back down in his love and support for Haruto. Which was such a refreshing surprise. This is a man who has until this point valued his career and his ability to win cases above pretty much everything else in his life. And it really felt like a moment of triumph for me to see him stand in front of his boss and be like “this is my boyfriend,” and to be faced with a choice between his career and his lover and to choose his lover. I’m glad Haruto and Ryo have each other and I am glad that his coworker has another queer person in the office (though I kind of suspect that he clocked Ryo before Ryo clocked himself). Also, he is responsible for one of my favorite scenes of the year. Squaring up only to immediately get his ass beat into the ground because why the hell would he know how to fight? Also, he is the plant dad of all time.
Lee Doe Hoe- Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo
Tumblr media
Doe Hoe is such a good example of what the behavior of an abused child looks like. He is a really interesting and complex character that I appreciate having in my life. I kinda loved that despite how good he is at taekwondo he doesn’t fight with people. The great tragedy of not understanding why people would want to hit each other because he has grown up being physically abused by his father. I really liked (from a narrative perspective) that he was an incredibly successful student and that he continuously failed the college entrance exam, the way he falls as a student because of the anger and sadness and guilt that he carries for calling the police that day. This man is fucking frustrating in so many ways and yet I completely understand why he is the way he is and, similarly to Kasuga, I really appreciate the where and how he bucks convention and stands up for himself. He does not care about the optics around the way he handles himself at his father’s funeral, he does not grieve that man, so why should he pretend to appease the judgement of others? I’m really glad that having Ju Yeong back in his life gives him the inspiration he needs to try again to go to college, and while we do not get to know the results I truly believe that he will finally succeed.
Sin Ju Yeong- Let Free the Curse of Taekwondo
Tumblr media
Y’all know I love myself a happy!sad and there are few people who so strongly represent the things I love about a happy!sad as much a Ju Yeong. That boy has been through so fucking much, and he hides a lot of his pain behind what I do believe is a genuine love and joy for life. But I think that joy for life, and the desire to spread joy to Dohoe really manifests in the recognition he has of himself in Dohoe’s sadness, and the knowledge that there are things he can do to help change that. I love Ju Yeong because he does not back down, he still carries shame around his sexuality (I see you cross necklace) but he will stand up for himself and he will not shy away from intimacy and desire. From a narrative perspective I love that that mask of brightness he had that was so blinding and attractive to Dohoe when they were kids is shattered when he loses Dohoe. Who we see when he’s in college and when he’s working a job is who he really is, and I love how much Dohoe tries to twist the knife in Ju Yeong by pretending like Ju Yeong wasn’t as lost and alone and hurting as he was just because he would make himself smile. I love how much of Ju Yeong’s character makes sense because his entire life has just been abandonment after abandonment from people that he loves and cares for. That he takes punishment to spare Dohoe, that he does not let Dohoe push him away when they reunite as adults, that he tolerates a lot more of the nasty shit that Dohoe tries to say to and about him because he cares and he knows that Dohoe scares. I love that Dohoe’s hatred of violence is what causes Ju Yeong to lose his control and kiss Dohoe for the first time, and that it is violence that Ju Yeong resorts to both to protect Dohoe and then later to help Dohoe set himself free by trashing the dojo.
